No way is Jones a left wing back. Kent is probably a better option there.

Janko is likely suited to it though.

I'm a big advocate of 4-4-2 - with the right full backs, it's like having extra men on the park (witness Manure in their pomp under Fergie), but I'd be interested how that would work, albeit with Yids on the left. Certainly gives Moncur what I think is his best role. Problem is you wouldn't see the net results in one game, probably not even in the remaining four. Needs time, and us fickle, impatient buggers would never allow that...

Now that we've all settled down again after the Wigan game, its good to see that none of us are suggesting that Townsend come in for Davies. But despite his goal would you still drop Armstrong ?
I like the idea of trying to see if Moncur would fit into that role hes been used to playing at other clubs.

Yes maybe your right there yidom would have been better but he is out for rest of season. I just think we have players to fit the system so why not give it a go.

I prefer Chelsea's 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2. I think we'd be too exposed down the flanks unless we pin their full backs back.

    MacDonald Roberts Jackson
    Janko Scowen James Yiadom
    Watkins Bradshaw Kent

To play it properly we'd need more of a target man and additional cover at centre half.

At this stage of the season now I wouldnt go making any plans involving James & Kent, because whether we like it or not they're not going to stay any longer with us.

We've not got the type of centre backs you need to play with a back 3, you need all 3 to be comfortable on the ball & bringing it out from the back as at times each of them will join the midfield during the game & the right & left centre backs will push wide.

As much as Roberts & MacDonald have improved their distribution neither would be suited to that system.

The last time we played it we had Cranie & Kennedy who were both very comfortable on the ball & Foster who was fairly comfortable on the ball, all 3 have played full back many times which helped.

I don't see who'd carry the ball out from the back in a 3 of Roberts, MacDonald & Jackson & I don't see any capable of been the left sided centre back
