Look well worth a listen, JLWBL.

Fleetwood Fair track on websoite is tidy. First time I can recall seeing a left-handed mandolin player, and Jamie's style of playing a six-string there is unusual, to say the least!

Hope the Trades Club is the right audience for them - shame The Wheatsheaf at the bottom of the street is no more!

Good luck to 'em both, I say.

    They're a lovely, young couple

Very good neighbours, too. I offered to do backing vocals for them, but for some reason they turned me down!:D

I should exclusively reveal at this point that Orsen was on lead guitar/vocals for a local band circa 1979-81.

Amongst the venues we played was Farm Road Club at Kendray. Should have got a VC for that one!

    Barnsley66 & I

Used to play football for the YMCA on the fields down Farm Road. There seemed to be about 500 pitches there, but my mind may well be playing tricks on me in my old age!:D

Yes JLWBL - that would be every bit as risky as playing at Farm Road Club!

Kendrayers v Bank Enders an annual battle to behold.

Being brought up in Kendray was, as they say, "character forming"!!!

It didn't matter what time of the year you played there, it was always cold and windy!!

Remember it well orsen as a Bank Ender. We used to have a good game of footy against our Kendrayer pals on Sunday afternoons. I can also remember when by gran was walking home to Kendray during one of the battles in the field and everbody stopped till she passed safely.

Hee Hee, I'm a veteran of 'bank End /Kendrayer raids.

Thing was, the so called hard guys from both sides used to sit together on the banking laughing & joking at the rest of us.
Have to say being brought up in Kendray in those days was fine. My dad is 78 this month and still lives in the same house, so it can't be all that bad.

That ground seemed to defy the laws of nature!

It was ALWAYS blooming freezing there, even if the rest of the country was basking in a heat wave!

I do think that Oakwell is a cold ground as well though!

It's certainly got colder as I've grown older!

    :D
However, it's nothing in comparison to the likes of Blundell Park, Boundary Park, Victoria Ground, The Shay, Roker Park and Southport's ground (the name of which escapes me).

Is it something like Hall Avenue?

Yeah, I think you're right, mate

Went Christmas time 1977. We drew 1-1 and Southport were voted out of the League at the end of the season, to be replaced by Wigan.
Everywhere was shut and an ice-cold wind was blowing off the Irish Sea. As desolate a place as I've ever visited.

Just Googled it and it is Haig Avenue, but not bad for my memory, I am sure we went to that match, could not have told you the score though.

We equalised with an own goal in the second half

John Peachey's shot was heading for a throw in before it hit a defender. Southport were bottom and the group of us from Gilroyd were hoping we'd try and go for the winner. However, this was in the days of Jim Iley, so we defended in deep for the last half hour & played for a draw. Iley was quite happy with a point away from home against the bottom of the entire league, even though we were supposed to be going for promotion. Bless his cotton socks.

Strangely, I clocked them this morning for the first time as a group. Knew Jamie as a kid, lovely family. His sister's been successful at music too in the past.
