D'oh! I clicked on the link, thought 'great song' and then realised why you'd posted it. Hadn't heard that he'd died.

I recall turning the radio on at New Year's Day in 1986 and there was a Ricky Nelson song on. I'm a big fan of Ricky Nelson and thought it was great, because he's never on the radio (nostalgia wasn't an industry in the 80s and very little pre-1979 used to get played apart from on Jimmy Savile's show). Anyway, I was singing along and then the song ended and another of his songs came straight on. It was then I realised why they were playing him. From joy to misery in a matter of two songs. Actually, that would be a great title for a Morrissey album wouldn't it.

Anyway, even to this day, if we're in the car on a long journey and have the ipod on shuffle, if it ever throws up the same artist two songs in a row me or the missus always ask whether the ipod thinks the singer has died and it all stems from the disappointment of hearing one of my favourite singers being played twice in a row on Radio One!
