June 2 caught speeding on speed camera. (I didn't know about this at the time)

June 5 renewed car insurance - no points on licence to disclose.

June 12 received notification of imposition of 3 points due to speeding - BACKDATED to date of offence (June 2)

Checked today with Insurance Company - I was informed Insurance is not valid as I hadn't disclosed that I had 3 points on my licence when I renewed the insurance. (This despite the fact that I didn't know about the three points when I renewed Insurance)

    Rubbish..

They can only revoke cover if you are guilty of Non-disclosure of material facts. Since you were unaware at the time of renewal you are not guilty of fraudulent misrepresentation. You did inform them once you were notified. They could subsequently cancel your cover and refund you pro rata or impose an increase (pro-rata) but either would be harsh as 3 points (unless you are young or in your 1st year or so of insurance), provided it was an SP30 means most insurers don't load the premium..

At the time of renewal I was not guilty of fradulent misrepresentation.

However had I not informed the insurers when I received notification of the penalty that my penalty pre-dated the renewal date then the policy could be deemed null and void.

    Puzzled now

You seem to be contradicting your self

In this post you say "had I not informed the insurers when I received notification of the penalty that my penalty pre-dated the renewal date then the policy could be deemed null and void."

which is correct -your insurer can reasonably expect you to disclose that once you are aware

In your original post you said "I was informed Insurance is not valid as I hadn't disclosed that I had 3 points on my licence when I renewed the insurance. (This despite the fact that I didn't know about the three points when I renewed Insurance)"

which is ****** - I assume you misstyped the original
