That is providing we don't pick up any major injuries along the way....... I feel we have been unlucky with injuries to key players over the past few seasons i.e. last year Hume, the year before Anderson & Muller! I felt at times we played some decent stuff but lacked cutting edge and suffered because of it.... but I still feel SD can do the job!

I'm not to disheartened with players that have left; Leon struggled with physical side of english game, Van Homeot was poor, Letheren did little to prove to me that he could be top keeper at this level or No.2, Souza had a great first season but seemed out of sorts last year, and Muller hasn't been the same players ince returning from injury. Also I felt the squad needed thinning down and freshening up a little, and hopefully this year see some academy lads come through.

I know some people on ere are dishertened by the lack of signings so far but we have also secured contract extensions for several of the first team squad i.e. Hassell, Foster, Steele, JCR, Devaney, Kozluk & Devaney this summer and the academy lads Potter, J.Hibbert, RNL, Butterfield and J.Adam all look good prospects and we will hopefull see one or more of them step up and hold down a regular first team slot this year. Also SD's targets sound pretty decent too i.e. IMO british bases players proven at this level in key positions. I just hope we can secure deals for some of the players shortlisted/rumoured e.g. Gray, C.Adam & A.Hammill........ It will also be interesting to see if any loan players come in as SD has brought in some key aquisitions in the past e.g. Nyatanga, Anderson, Macken, Hammill etc.

There wasn't a single team I saw last season in the championship that I felt looked unbeatable. In fact I was pretty comfident that if we played at our best we could have beaten anyone. The Championship is a pretty level playing field and the teams that do well are generally the teams that stay injury free and can put a run together. Remeber Hull city were in relegation dog fight the year before they got promoted. Thats not to say I think we will get promoted, but if we can stay injury free and a put a run together, with strikers scoring regularly we will start turing some of those draws into wins and finish much higher up the table than in previous seasons.

Donny, Scunny, Blackpool, Watford, Swansea and Coventry have all been pretty quiet in the transfer market and some have lost key players too....... As always I think the Championship is their for the taking this year! I'm tipping PNE, Ipswich, QPR and Bristol to be up their....... not sure how WBA, Newcastle and Boro will fair just yet, will they sink or swim?

Optimism - a rare thing amongst Barnsley fans

I'm optimistic as well. Mid-table finish I think - my poor old heart can't take another season like the last 2.

    STEELE
    KOZLUK
MOORE - Going to find it hard this season - very good squad player and back up.
    FOSTER
HASSELL - Not good enough week in week out to play at full back.
    JCR
    ANDERSON
    COLACE
    DEVANEY
    BOGDANOVICH
    ODEJAYE - Not good enough

Then we have no one other than HUME and kids, Mackens past it and El Hamouir is not good enough. Without 4 players i cant see us being out of the bottom 3. Im very worried.

We're far too thin on the ground

And SD knows this. The worrying thing is I'm not sure if just three or four players is enough and while it's great to have youth coming through, we don't want to rely on them too much. Look what happened to Southampton, they tried bringing a lot through in one season and in the end, they weren't strong enough or experienced enough.

    Just noticed Alan Quinn...

Wasn't even involved in Ipswich' game at Southend last night. Yes SD said he hasn't bidded for him but i've got a feeling there's something in this, remember he said the same about Mifsud in January before Coleman went and said that they had accepted a bid from us the next day. Just have to wait and see what Keane says.

Sorry my eyes must be tired, are you saying Hassell (player of the year) isn't good enough to play full back all season? (doh)

Bub.. I think you need to go to specsavers son, Hassell not good enough!?! was best player by far

Hassell was our most consistent player and tope performer by an absoluet country mile last season, He's our Mr dependable! In fact I'd go as far as to say he's been our most consistent player over the past 4-5seasons. Improving year on year!

    RE: Bobby Hassell

Gets caught out of position at full back and not quick enough. Yes he has been consistent and he has also been very good in certain games but for me he is a very good squad player to have as he can cover numeral positions. We need a new full back, someone with pace especially if Moore is to play most of the season.

The Only wat we will be Okay is by changing the Manager

No matter how you look at it , 3 years of consistent poor performance cannot hide that Davey is not up to the job, nothing to do with players as even a good manager would get more from them, Davey cannot get the best ouit of the players fact

Pretty much agree with that but give most Barnsley fans a trier over someone with ability and they are happy
