Boro started the brighter with Hammil playing well on left wing. After 10/15 mins we started pressing and for the rest of the half most of the play was in their half.Definitely "won" the half.Boro made 2 subs but we were still in charge. Then on the hour free header from a corner put them in front. We let our heads drop for a while but for the last 20 mins it was almost continual pressure from us.The 2nd goal in injury time was a clanger by Steel who was trying to start yet another attack.Overall a really promising performance IMHO

Don't you bring your 'I went to the match saw what happened on the pitch and feel fairly optimistic' load of crap on here, we've a selection of pessimistic whingers to satisfy and I'm afraid that kind of talk is not going to help them feel more despair ! ;)

Agreed, first time we've performed in at least half a dozen games I'd say.

Won't stop my step father (boro season ticket holder) having a word like - he had a fair few to say driving back down - a few of which admitting we were as good as he's seen at the riverside in a while - but mostly taking the piss.

I'm not one of the hill haters but have been concerned at the lack of performance recently - but I'll always accept losing if it's done in the manner of last nights. 2-0 has never been so flattering.

Thanks for the assessment Paul, hopefully it will shut the 'we're **** and going down 'doom-mongers up for a day or two.

'Barnsley were convincingly beaten at Middlesbrough' according to Look North.

That report cheers me up no end Paul. Thanks.

Look North must have read the BBC's Teletext report: 'The home side were better throughout and were only denied a bigger scoreline by a stubborn Tykes defence.'
