Firstly though, well done George Waring for having the presence of mind to check back and slide it perfectly between two defenders who were closing him down.

But then, watch the incident frame by frame and there is something that no one else has mentioned.

The keeper MIGHT have made contact with the ball but not enough to alter the direction of it. Hourihane was flicking it past him and it just keeps on going without any devation so I would suggest NO ball contact from the keeper.

However, and this confirms the spot kick, he slides in with one leg outstretched and as CH flicks the ball beyond him the keeper's leg comes up to make sure that he catches our player. Once CH is on his way down, the leg is going back down again.

Indisputable proof there for me. The Keeper knew EXACTLY what he was doing and he got caught doing it.

PS Yeovil were an incredibly dirty side so got what they deserved - one man off and a penalty against them.

The guy behind me was espousing much the same view (maybe it was you). I have to say I didn't really notice that they were anything unusual in that regard.

I still don't see how he stayed on . if he hasn't took him out houriane would easily have got the ball and had a simple tap in whether there was somebody on the lone or not, it wasn't a keeper who could use his hands

I suppose the ref just uses the defenders near the line rule and decides that the keeper was not the last man. However, as I suggest above, it was a blatant trip by the keeper, in the box, so he should have at least been booked, if not sent off

Smmed clear from east standlower K29 that Hourihane had "done him" and the goalie was hoping the ref would accept "no contact"
You at the game ? come into Redfearns bar next home game and introduce yourself ?

At the time I thought it was harsh but if the refs given a pen he's got to go surely?

Also why did the keeper come with his feet sliding in? He's asking for trouble doing that and looking at it again a penalty was probably the right decision...

Was that question aimed at me? Yes I was, as I am at all the home games. Only got into Redfearns once so far because I often don't get to the ground until shortly before kick off but I managed an early one a month or two ago

No - there's no automatic assumption that every foul by the keeper results in a red card. It was just a foul. It's in the box so it's a penalty.

It's only a red if it prevents a clear goal scoring opportunity. Given that Hourihane was running across the box sideways heading more towards the touchline than the goal, and with plenty of defenders around, that was never going to be the case.

He's nowhere near the touch line but watching it back maybe the ref thought the defender that runs across after the foul would have tackled him...

Either way we got 3 points and a decent start for the new lads!

Well hourihane if he had gotten to the ball could have side footed it into a net that had no keeper in it. The rule doesn't say that he had to have 100% scored but there can be no denying that a player with an excellent finish onchim running onto a ball 10 yards from goal with the keeper on his are nowhere in site is an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
