I've supported Johnson 100% so far. After his post match comments today I'm starting to think he may just be as deluded as some say. The game was EXACTLY the same as last week. Pretty football and I see the game plan, but the game plan is NOT effective. Champions league teams can play this way because they have world class players delivering the final ball. They can play one upfront because they have David Silva threading through to Aguero. Robben crossing to Lewandowski. Iniesta putting it on a plate for Messi. As well as all of the individual brilliance their whole squads can produce. In League One you cannot play this way. The players are not consistant enough in their delivery. The strikers are not ruthless enough. The individual brilliance is a once every few month thing at most. League One football is all about 2 upfront, direct play, overload attacking and cross after cross in the box. The sooner the club realises this the better. I want Johnson in charge but no players avaliable to Barnsley will be consistant enough to play this European style football. Let's get back to basics and get some results! good post, i said to my lad on way back to the car, that playing like that in the championship i think we would do ok the idea being full season together in this formation in this league, win promotion and be pretty secure next season, but we have to win promotion first, and LJ maybe needs to change the play a bit sooner in a game to get the results need to achieve that, we were never gunna score the 2nd today and i said just before they scored, " that they were gunna score " and they did,and of course it was my fault according to my lad ,because i said they were gunna score! but onto next week we go another game and 3 pts up for grabs, i still reckon we will be up there pushing for the playoffs ,but we will see how good LJ is as a manager in the next few weeks, motivate the team couple of changes win a couple of games things will be back on track, lose though a couple more games and stick with this starting 11 then the knives will be out for him i,m afraid.
Absolutely bang on! Couldn't have said it better myself. Tried to put across a similar point on Twitter, but you did a better job.
It's obvious but will it change? I doubt it. Sometimes we will win using these tactics. But we will rarely win because of these tactics. We will win because we have scored a set peice, an individual error or someone has smashed one in from distance. I honestly don't believe these tactics have got us a point all season. I just wish LJ saw it the same way. I like the bloke but I wish he'd stop aspiring to be Pep Guradiola. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
