Off on my jollies in a couple of weeks and was after a good book to read....

Not much of a book person myself, don't seem to have much time spare.

However I'm sure with 2 weeks on a beach I'll have plenty of time to read a book.

Not sure what I like or where to start....

    Suggestions please....

    My usual suggestion....

Tony Cascarino's autobiography. I'm definately not a book person, but I couldn't put that down. Always liked the guy anyway, so that had a bearing on it.

Another obvious one is Lars Leese's book. Really enjoyed that too, but I imagine u may have read that already?

If you don't read books much, start with something light or funny, or engrossing

Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler or Ulysses by James Joyce.

    No honestly try ....

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

As someone says Jeremy Clarkson's books are funny and readable

For thrillers try Jeffrey Deaver's books about Lincoln Rhyme (if you like that New York Serial Killer / scenes of crimes stuff)

Stuart MacConies books Pies & Prejudice ... and Cider with Roadies are brilliant, heavily laced with The North, music and memories. Unmissable.

Anyway, enjoy whatever you buy, charity shops can also have some great books in........

Well, he might be right mate

but they're both ace, "Pies" if you are really northern "Cider" if you really like music. Being & loving both I can't choose between them.

To be honest they are the same book written from different perspectives, equally engaging but different. Class.

See what I did there, ending the sentence with different and then full stop class. I wanted to write for Sounds when I was a lad.

    The Blinder

Barry Hines ... if you haven't read this book and a you are a Barnsley fan .... couldn't recommend much better. Kitchen sink drama, tarn style, like a football Kes, the hero was David Hirst 20 years before his time.
