Plenty of good attacking football with an eagerness about the whole team in very difficult conditions. The finishing was abysmal and no one can defend it but, if we keep playing like that the goals will come. Hayes had a good match but missed the best chance of the game and another more difficult opportunity later. However his overall contribution was very positive.I have posted this because I get p****d of with all the crap we get on here from teenaged-wet behind the ears-teenaged scribblers.

eagerness? is that what you call reverting to long ball?

Devaney looked very eager in the first half when he was trying to run the clock down when we had a corner.

Yep

I started going about the time of Cooper and Currie.
I remember half times being filled with talk of how Saville and Rammell weren't a good enough pairing.
Well, having seen those two over the latter half of this season, I now know what an inadequate strike force look like.

First striker I saw was Mick Butler, an awsome finisher. Can't remember his partner though (maybe Brian Mahoney?). Seen countless pairings over the years since, plenty good (ie Aylott & Parker) and plenty bad. But I have to say when it comes to putting away chances even Saville & Rammell were more adept thn the current two !

I thought Price's main partner was John Peachey ? Price was'nt bad but always carried a bit too much weight. Became a copper after playing and is now probably retired. Could've sworn I saw him the other week in The Shaw Inn up Racecommon Road.

Peachy and Price first played for the club at Shrewsbury lost 1-3 on Nov 30th 1974.

They both played in the same side as Mick for 13 games that season.

In 1975-76 Peachy only played 12 games 5 as sub before Mick left.
Peachy then became Prices regular partner.

Thanks for that, have to say I'm impressed with your memory !!
Anyhow I wish Mick Butler was thirty years younger.

John Manning played both as a centre forward and centre half during the short period he played for us.

It was almost a 50-50 split but he played more as a defender.
50 games 9 goals
