The players are out warming up on the Headingley pitch. We've got internationals, Leicester the same. Hopefully the first of two good games
Got to change at some point. Even missing the likes of Root and Bairstow we still have five England players in the starting eleven
Waste of time anyone spending money to watch Yorkshire at 20/20 level as they never take it seriously. Be out in the group stages again. No strength in depth when they rest a few. They use it to give youngsters a chance, which is going to backfire spectacularly like in years gone by. Fans won't wear it either. Looking at the blue empty seats tonight there was already little optimism and it's only the first match. Last two overs not good enough. Can see why they would rest some guys down the line after a long grueling season. But it's only just started and they have had a week off so no excuse for leaving out Patterson and Brooks for a start.
You've clearly never seen Yorkshire play cricket if you think brooks or Patterson should be in the T20 team
Jack Brooks certainly goes for a lot of runs but he is just as likely to bag a couple of wickets as anyone else. Steve Patterson the same - both are experienced players and that is what Yorkshire lacked last night. It started so well with Tim Bresnan getting a wicket in the first over and, for a while, it looked like Leicester were going to post a low score. But, and this is where the inexperience comes in, we allowed them too many easy six hits and they ended up with nine of them off the last six overs. It's good that so many young lads are coming through the Yorkshire Academy but with two rookies - Coad and Wainman - at 10 and 11 we were always going to be in trouble. Bresnan did what he always does, with both bat and ball, and Will Rhodes had a decent game. The rest were disappointing though and what on earth was Adil Rashid doing playing at number three? It was a sour ending to a night which promised so much early on, with Yorkshire falling over fifty short of the opposition. It is a good squad, no doubt about that, but they just can't seem to get it right at this form of the game, which is a pity seeing as I have a T20 season ticket again! We certainly missed Jonny Bairstow, no doubt about that, and old-stagers like Richard Pyrah and Ryan Sidebottom.
Just remember they have Travis Head to arrive at some point. I've not followed the IPL this season too much but he's been with RCB. Rashid's a very wristy cricketer and they would hav liked him to have come in and worked the gaps i'd imagine early because he's not got a great amount of power late on if that was needed. ----------------------------------- Just had a look and they play a play off game tomorrow. Also Kane Williamson will be at yorkshire at some point but not a clue when and it isn't for very long.
