Professor Mick Aston has passed away. A giant in archaeology, Mick was the top man on Time Team until he quit the show last year (due to the new Channel 4 bosses wanting the programme to be dumbed down). I have a number of the books he's written and they have been of great help to me in my studies, due to Mick's enthusiasm, love of archaeology, style and presentation.
    R.I.P. Mick.

My wife loves Time Team, so thats a shock on top of her dad passing away as well. A sad day.

They ought to bury him in a 16th century suit of armour, with a 19th century Simth & Wesson in one hand an i-phone in the other. That'll confuse the hell out of future archaeologists.

I'm certain Mick would be up for it!

Lovely bloke who'll be greatly missed by those in our discipline and beyond.

He's not enjoyed the best of health

These past few years, Trev. But it was still a shock and you're right, mate, sixty six is no real age.
