Statement I overheard about climate change made by a petrol station employee just now:

"I'm not bothered if the planet gets ******. So long as I live to me forties and get me drinking done, thats all that matters. Who gives a **** about the planet anyway".

Makes me so angry I want to do a little barf.

While I'm having a little rant about this, its ironic that the landscapes (polar regions, forests, etc) used by car manufacturers to advertise those god-awful, tacky, tiny penis/low-self esteem compensatory, petrol-guzzling, danger-to-pedestrian 4x4s are the very lanscapes that those vehicles (mostly driven my morons) are contributing to the destruction of.

Obviously if people live on a farm/have shed-loads of kids, then I can understand why a big car is necessary, but otherwise, someone explain.

And have a thought about all those needless trips by HGVs moving goods from one warehouse to another to 'give us choice'; the building of supermarkets out of town, that necessitate a car trip; plus the polution caused by vaste container ships bringing goods to Europe and the States from China; plus cheap airfares. If airfares had been kept at the 1965 level an economy return to New York would be in the region of £3,000. Why do idiots want to go to 'say' Cuba and Fiji, (they have generally no interest in the country or its people) and stay in 'resorts' that are no different from other resorts. The sun has the same intensity in Southern Europe. In any case why do people want to lie on beaches and get skin cancer. Rant over.

Because, generally speaking, they have a much worse mpg than other cars so use up more resources while also producing more pollution.
The same also applies to some non-4x4 cars, but they are typically your high-end sports cars that few people can afford.
There has been an explosion in 4x4 usage in recent years, meaning that they make a much larger contribution to environmental problems, even though generally the owners would cope just as well with a normal car. And 4x4s look ridiculous and make anyone who is driving them look like a selfish, mindless cretin.

with on this a mate of mine...

lives near a school in wakefield, and he says they are just dozens of these things parked up to pick kids up. He got him self into trouble with the law when he printed out loads of bits of paper and stuck them to the cars.

the paper read. "this is an off the road vechicle, get it off the ******* road!"

Unfortunately a lot of people in football are thick, flashy idiots with more money than sense.

Not counting our lot in that generalisation, obviously. Saw Shuker and Devaney cycling to training on a tandem the other day.

    ....and another thing.

Have a look at the new Lexus 400 hybrid car and then keep crapping on about global f**kin warming.
You on holiday this year? Flying? enough said then.
