    Hi there guys.
I woke this morning to find a few messages of condolence over the independence debate and 1 or 2 which seemed to be gloating.

I'll take it all on the chin. The country went to the polls and a majority refused the opportunity to rid themselves of Tory rule forever preferring instead to put their futures in the " safe" hand of Cameron and co. Strange I know but there it is.

I suppose a few on here will be glad it's all over as they certainly let me know how bored they were to be talking about one of the greatest political events to happen in this country for 300 years. So sorry for boring anyone but for the rest of you who engaged with me over this I really appreciated the debates and banter. The opposite views expressed were taken on board by myself. At times quite a few of you left me standing with your undoubted superior knowledge.

Let's hope after yesterday and the fright the we Scots gave this Government that the likes of you fine folks of Yorkshire and North of England can continue the fight for a more equal society. We can beat the Torries and upper classes and rid ourselves of the elitism which exists in the UK.

No more will be said on the matter.

Only BFC / Dundee United and football matters in general with be spoke about.

    Ian.

I don't mean this as a personal dig Arabian_Ian, but whether you like the guy or not, David Cameron was right on the nail about the fact that you shouldn't be voting away 300 odd years of shared heritage, values and co-operation because you don't like the current incumbents of Downing Street - they won't be in government forever, but choosing to have broken away would have been forever.

I am glad that Scotland has decided to stay within the UK, it has been worrying me over the last few weeks.
I wouldn't want us to see each other as foreigners living on the same island.
I hope the way forward is for increased devolution for all countries within the UK, an English parliament with a UK parliament covering international and cross-border issues like tax etc
Anyroad I hope you can all come together, YES and NO it has been one heck of a campaign and I'll be raising a glass of Highland Park tonight to Scotland and planning a trip next year (if we are still welcome that is).
    All the best.

I have to applaud the great turnout, 85% is a great victory for democracy.

Hope i haven't offended you at all, Ian, all my comments were meant in jest/banter, i may have gone OTT at times, and i apologise for that.

Better than in any general election, I grant you but I was still disappointed with the turnout - 85% means that nearly one in every 6 people still didn't vote, on a matter as important as this was. I don't understand why that many people didn't give enough of a **** either way to not want to vote on the matter.

95% would have been a good turnout.

Tory Rule?.....So if labour were still in power there wouldn't have been a referendum?

Ian, I think the debate on here has enlightened some people and has been far from boring. Personally I feel its better together and if us northerners need rid of a tory government we need your help and votes to do it, not to jump ship and later see that you have your very own Scottish torys to complain against. I've learnt that Scotland believes it has wealth and money and that's good in helping rebalance the whole UK economy and have a fairer system. I also learnt that the people wanting unity is a far bigger majority than the marginal belief I had. The referendum, whilst costly, has created a whole new debate, brought issues not only Scottish to the table and shown it can be done with dignity, pride and peace. Good luck and next time can we have a Arsenal vs Celtic match to settle any London vs Scotland issues :D

We're due a victory when you're watching, surely? Three defeats on the bounce last season, Watford, Birmingham City & QPR. New season, new start.:D

Yeah my presence has not been very lucky to the cause. Other poor games I've attended were Plymouth and Bristol City a couple of draws.

Of course the Hull game was one to remember. Helped keep us up.

    Hi Ian,

Sorry the vote didn't go the way you wanted it to. However, personally I think it was the right decision for all involved - at least in the long term anyway. Although I do take your thoughts on board when I say that. Cheers for now.
