Exactly, and you had to dig that far back to find a performance like that - Speaks volumes!!

    :D

    I wasn't digging at all

Found it in my favourites from last year.

I'm sure he's put in more "performances like that" since. Cast your mind back to the Millennium Stadium. Lucky goal I suppose.

Glad you're not in charge down the well!!!

...you can't live on memories mate and what players 'might' do - he's got talent with a ball - but so has a circus seal - strikers need to get a return of at least 1 in 3 over a period of time. Be realistic - he's never going to do that for us is he?

Yes it was an important goal for us, but are you seriously trying to convince me that because of that he should get picked every week on the back of it - come on pal - wake up and smell the coffee!!

Would you prefer Dwayne Mattis then?

And what if Devaney gets injured?

RE: Would you prefer Dwayne Mattis then?

Since when was Mattis a striker - Isn't that what Hayes calls himself?? Thought Mattis was a midfielder?? do you actually watch the reds or what? Instant replacement for Disco - Kyle Reid - A winger for a winger

    1 in 3 ???

I doubt that there are many of those out there.

I stand to be corrected , but I get there aren't that many strikers outside "Top Class" who have a record like that.

    Yes I do

I travel a hell of a distance to watch them, thanks.

Hayes has been used more as a winger than a striker so far this season. Kyel Reid is here til the end of the season, then what? A squad is supposed to be used for cover.

Paul Hayes has the ability to be a top player, but his attitude holds him back.

What do you think about Danny Nardiello and Marc Richards? They haven't scored many goals this season either, and they've played all their matches upfront, unlike Hayes.

    Reid on the right?

    Do you watch Barnsley?

He has no right foot whatsoever.

a 1 in 3 striker is a bog standard 17/18 goal a year man - bruce dyer, hignett that sort of player - top class weigh in with 25-30 - Hayes will struggle to reach double figures each year in my opinion

Neither Dyer or Hignett are 1 in 3 men.

    GREAT VIDEO LDRED

One of the all time best days to be a Barnsley fan. Things between our two teams were so close till that point. Was it from when we played them on the 15th of April by any chance :D :D :D

    It was indeed

My sisters boyfriend's first ever English match, and what a match to pick.

6th vs. 7th that day if I remember rightly, expected us to lose, draw at the best. Brilliant display.

I doubt he had much to say afterwards

Only thing that concerned me about the win was the celebrations aimed at the Oldham fans, what was all that about?!

    He And The Players........

basically shifted all the blame onto Ronnie Moore. Only a very select few liked playing for him. And that includes more of his Rotherham signings. The family sit in the Chaddy end at home matches. And a couple of people got thrown out for the Shuker and Mcphail celebrations. So they react to so called professionals being unprofessional in celebrating. And get thrown out of a very important match they lost. Oh good days :D :D :D Grinning like a Cheshire cat all evening :) :) :)

The players did try their best to provoke the Oldham fans

    That's for sure.

The foreigner, soon to be brother in law, was very impressed with us, thought the team and fans were fantastic.

I'm sure it was after the 2nd or 3rd goal, me and/or Arnside Red managed to end up about 3 throws behind where we started off.

    No

But I DO prefer Istvan Ferenczi and Peter Rajczi , who play in Hayes' position . What if Devaney DOESN'T get injured ? If he does , how do you know Ritchie Jones won't be a more than able replacement ? I think Hayes is a very skilful player , but the vast majority of his games for us has been as a striker and his goals return during that time has been very poor . The fact that Richards , Nardiello , Wright and Knight also have had unimpressive returns during the same period does not negate Hayes' poor record .

    RE: No

OK, so we play Jones out wide instead. Who does that leave for cover in the centre of midfield? We don't have a big squad, and getting rid of someone like Hayes, who is capable of playing at this level, obviously don't solve anything.
