I know this is a pretty strange post (even by my standards) but can anyone solve a mystery for me? If you go on Google maps and search for a place called Beetham (it's between Kendal and Lancaster) you will find the phrase "Dummy 1962" just below Beetham (you may have to zoom in a bit). Anyone knows what this means or refers to??
There was an episode of The Twilight Zone called The Dummy that aired in 1962 don't know about the relevance though s)
What are the chances? Just been doing a more thorough google search for any reference to this and only found one. That was virtually the same question asked on a Burnley fans' board in May - noone had a clue on there either!!
RE: I drive past there every day.... Well, my sat nav tried to take me to a completely wrong location near there yesterday and I was just checking on Google. The phrase caught my eye! Maybe the whole area is a geographical anomalie? (I know Milthorpe is very weird - went there once and now always try to avoid it!)
RE: Copyright breaker booby-trap. Makes sense - but how come it only appears at certain magnifications? Or is it there to stop folk linking to the google map and claimiing that they made the map? But that wouldn't be it cos all the maps have google info on them? Why am I discussing this with myself?
It's a farm run by a devout Conservative... The remains of a "peel tower" can be seen there. It was the sit of a national hedge laying/trimming/whatever-you-do-to-hedges-if-you-don't-have-a-life competition a few months ago... Are you saying you came all the way up here and didn't visit us? OR Arnside???
I was going to ask.... why you didn't introduce yourself but then I read your post again and saw that you thought that where we lived was weird!!!! That probably answers the question!
