Low crowds and no atmosphere. The support does not reflect the football we have been playing this season. I have been a supporter for many years (decades) but can't remember a time when the crowds were so quiet.
The East stand is like a morgue. Where are the cheerleaders we used to have. No songs no noise nothing. Its like a
night at the opera. Come on. Lets make some noise.

I have to agree, no matter how hard part of the Ponty end tries to get something going its just not catching on and the atmosphere is t0ss as a result. The East stand is worse than a morgue.

Under Davey and Robins, I could kind of accept it. But this has already been the most exciting league season at this level since Merlin's Millennium season.
These lads, this management duo, they deserve so much more. Its got to the point where even I cant be arsed to even try starting a song.
9000 mutes, until the ball goes backwards, or until sumat happens that the mutes think requires booing or moaning at.

as i sit in the east stand i realise how quiet it is but dont be deluded into thinkin the ponty end is a raptorous roar throughout the game, the atmosphere is dead all over the ground

Agreed. It doesn't help matters either that we've sung the same old repetitive **** for years or sing what other clubs sing. "Greatest team in football the world as ever seen" should only be sung by Barcelona for a start.

The acoustics in the home end (as opposed to the away end don't help). If ten people make a noise in the away end, it carries... Not the same in the Ponty. Still think we should have the North Stand as a home end.

    Cracking point Fi.
    But it wont happen.
Great acoustics in the North. I remember sitting in there in the Millennium season when it was split.

Not a fan of switching ends, we would only have about 3500 fans spread across a 6000 capacity stand. My only thought on why the atmosphere has declined so much is perhaps certain people don't attend anymore. I remember only 5 years ago seeing many faces away from home, creating an atmosphere and having a laugh, that i no longer see. Whether they've lost interest, got in trouble or whatever I have no idea. But atmosphere has to be created by a few people initially, with others following. At Doncaster, when a few began singing, people around me were tutting and complaining about certain songs, commenting on people standing up etc. For as long as the majority decline to join in, or actively discourage atmopsheres, it won't improve. Away from home unreserved seating is a must I believe for allowing an atmospehre to develop.

it hasnt been the same since it went from standing to all seater

Apart from the obvious big games, since the crowd got broken up with reserved seating and season tickets the atmosphere lost a lot of its edge.

Maybe unreserved standing areas on the terrace would bring something back? I doubt people would want to give up their seats in the ponty.

Agree with only1kp...whilst the east stand is as quiet as ever the Ponty is virtually the same. Every team has its areas where the singers get things going. Ours have gone missing this season.

We are so keen on cost cutting this year why dont we shut the North Stand completely and save on costs. Put the away fans in the upper and lower West Stand. Stewards are already on there for some reason and the gang of stewards and coppers won't be needed between the East and North. As for the noise it's one of the most open grounds in the league and the atmospheres soon lost, something needs doing with the corners to improve the acoustics.

We don't need to switch ends though. Home fans could go in the Ponty AND the north and stick the away fans in the west stand upper tier where they can be charged £30 while the home fans can be charged much less.

Leeds' way to get more out of the away fans: Move them to the upper tier on the side and charge them more (as per the rules).
Barnsley's way to get more out of the away fans: House the away fans in the cheapest seats (as per the rules) and put the price up for EVERYONE alienating your home support.

I know the excuse is that the police don't like it but maybe for once we should stand up to the police and tell them we demand to be treated the same as the other 91 clubs.

I can't disagree with you, the atmosphere is toss but the Ponty end does at least try to get things started at times. I don't know what it sounds like elsewhere as I sit in the Ponty but I don't imagine it's very good. Good reply though, the bit about the rapturous roar made me chuckle.

Ok, the first Season with Wilson
    1) just finished above relegation under Anderson,
    2) unproven DeeDah who, lets be honest, had played rubbish for the season, put in charge.
    3) only 1 stand plus the away end ope meaning max crowd was about 7k we could ever get.

2 season later, in the prem.

    Calm down?
