Obviously dissapointed that we have gone out but not too down hearted.

I would have thought that a few of the players would have shown a little more, especially the likes of McParland, Austin and maybe Wright, but there we go.

We got it together really only once and played some neat passing, Tonge got a good ball across and McIndoe pulled us level. From there I thought that we would go onto win, but a combination of tiring players, poor players and a lack of concentration led to defeat.

I can see that a lot of folk are pissed at spending £12 to see the reserves and see some reserves who looked like they could not give a toss at that, but I expected a second string side and saw one. It is hard to see any of those on show really putting pressure on the first choice lads, based on this display, which is slightly worrying if we get injuries/suspensions. It has to be said that Tonge for example has played btter for the first team, as has Healy and probably Wright.

Now this competition is out of the way, I'd like to see a few moved out on loan, where they can get some experience and hopefully have their swaggers knocked out of them. Also looks like I'm alone with this but I thought Wroe did better than usual and seemed to have improved.

A couple of players were miles off the standard required even against MK and these either need to shape up very quickly or get applying at Top Man.

All in all, the biggest worry is the quality of backup, but as someone said, we can't have a second eleven of a similar standard to the first eleven because that is just not the real world. I'd expect a few of these lads, if called upon for the first team to raise their games significantly and at least provide stop gap cover.

I don;t think for one second that AR will be happy with some of them, but three points on Friday and all this will be forgotten.

Last point. Atkinson needs to push on and dislodge Austin as defensive cover. I expected more from Ozzie last night. Rattled the bar though, from our second best move of the game.

"if called upon for the first team"

It was a first team game wasn't it? Or am I missing something.

RE: "if called upon for the first team"

Well yes, it was. But I mean if called upon for the league, a more important competition for me.
