I know there are quite a few of you. There's a little girl in the ICU at Sheffield Children's Hospital who really needs your prayers. She's very, very poorly. About 18 months ago she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Since then just about everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. Normal people, like you and I, would have been dead over a year ago, but this lass is made out of steel. Unfortunately, if you apply enough pressure, steel eventually gives way and we're at that stage now. She's got one chance left. I'm not religious, I don't believe in God, I'm pretty sure that prayers don't work, but I'm absolutely damn certain that they don't do any harm and we've reached the point where her mum and dad need a miracle, so... If you believe prayers work, then maybe you can direct some of yours her way. Personally, I believe in medical science, but as that has been failing for the last 18 months, I can't see anything wrong with a two pronged attack. The treatment is starting right about now. Thank you
I don't believe in God or prayers but I'll certainly think about her when I lay my head down for sleep tonight. Hope the prayers/positive thinking/medical science give her some help. I know all too well what it's like to have an ill, hospitalised child - though thankfully nothing quite so drastic as leukaemia.
Jay, exemplary post mate, really is. I'm not Religious, but I for sure, will pray that this young girl fights her way through this disease. She sounds like a reight little scrapper and if effort is owt to go by.....she'll come through. Good luck and love from PASTA (and family).
Seconded. Can't imagine what it's like, and don't want to find out. International thoughts are coming her way. Hope she pulls through - miracles can happen.
She might only have one chance left Jay but one chance is all it takes. The world is full of people who could or 'should' have died but have survived due to that one chance which worked. I dont personally see how prayers can magically make someone better, logically that isn't possible. However I'm sure that knowing people are praying and knowing that people are believing she will be ok must give a shred of comfort and belief for the parents and family and in turn must give the same belief to the person being prayed about even if it is subconsciously so from that point of view i'm sure that prayers DO have a positive effect and like you say, they certainly can't hurt can they. She'll be in my prayers tonight Jay.
What harm can it do? Like many others I am not particularly religious but if saying a prayer helps this little girl hope then I will say one. Hopefully the power of collective prayer can help. God bless her and her poor parents who must be going through hell.
It won't any of us to spare a thought for this poor child, call it a prayer, good vibes or a simple message of good will. I know Laura Herring doesn't post on hear anymore, but her Post Pals charity made such positive thoughts a very real difference to the lives of many poorly children. Laura introduced me to this charity and I'm really the one who's better for it. http://www.postpals.co.uk/
Our prayers are said for this little girl, for her full recovery and for all her family and medical staff. The Bailey family in France.
I will certainly pray for her in Church tommorrow, I do believe that prayer works for what its worth.
