Barnsley Strikers Baseball Club, one of the oldest in Yorkshire being formed during the miners strike, are no more as they announce a merger with Sheffield Bladerunners, the Sheffield club will field 2 teams who both retain their suffix.

A few clubs have done this and there are in the leagues a number of "A" and "B" teams, one of the reasons being that the subs to the BBF (British Baseball Federation) are split, as it's so much per club regardless of the number of teams they field. Another reason is that Sheffield have about 30 players on their roster, whilst Barnsley have about 12 and only 6 that are committing to playing every week, so we can get some of their players to make up numbers. So you can see it would be more expensive per player to play for Barnsley than Sheffield due to number of players.

No, only game I've been to was Yankee Stadium, either end up going just before or just after regular season, or when a team is on the road! Hoping to get over this season for a few games though. I've a friend lives near Tampa and watches the Devil Rays though, he was asking when I was going to go visit and I was looking at that series against Boston the other day.

We've done the Yankees a couple of times, first in '95 - the first game back after the umpires' strike!! The public had just given up - you wouldn't believe the freebies they were giving away to get the punters interested again! Also been to Fenway a couple of times.

First time in Florida, so thought I'd drag the kids along to a game. Sunday Jul 29th if you decide to go!! Thought it would be a nice break from queueing in the theme parks. There's a shuttle launch while we're out there too - hopefully get to Coacoa Beach to see that.

Only started playing last season. Having got into watching on TV, I fancied getting involved, found the BBF website and there's a search facility to find a local club, was only thinking of getting involved off the field, maybe scoring or umpiring, got invited down for training and they handed me a glove. We struggled to be able to field a team most of the season so in some ways I helped to keep the team going even if I was 9th man.

Yes, at least for this season

Already committed to playing anyway and also bought some new gear whilst in the US.

It basically sounds like it's the same team this season anyway.

Not sure what that means for our final games of the season though which are due to be against Sheffield, I suspect they'll be friendlies instead.
