Has not been at his best recently but I've seen enough to believe he will develop into a decent player
If my dad posted on here this is what he'd say. In fact he said it on way to the ground before kick off today.
Me too, and said this for a while now. But he's captain, and one of the lads we're trying to sell on for profit. So play a back three. But no. We sacked that after one game, a game where LJ put Scowen at RWB..
I think people are forgetting how young he is. He's only 21. Roberts is 25 and Nyatanga is 27 yet he looks much more composed than the both of them.
Funny game football isn't it? I thought he played well today and is our best centre back. Don't agree with Nyatanga at left back, but also don't want to see Roberts not start.
Personally I don't pick players based on their age. He might be younger but if he isn't as good as someone else in his position he shouldn't be playing there instead of the other player. At our club we seem to have a fascination with players ages, be that the owner quoting statistics about the age of players at other clubs, the manager talking about youth and ages or fans telling us the average age of the squad and starting 11 every week. For me all that matters is performances and if they aren't performing then rather than say 'but they're all so yoyng' and acting like that is an excuse we should be replacing them with other players, its not like the football league gives us a 3 goal headstart for playing a young lad at the back instead of a 27 year old
TBH i dont think giving him the armband has done him any favours anall. come xmas i hoping im eating my words and hes turned into a very good player but on what ive seen so far, admittedly i havent been to any of the away games, he is no better at centre back than Nayatanga or for that matter Cranie
I rate him, poor game today & apparently the same at Rochdale but in fairness so we're most others. In the 2 home games against Bradford & Burton & the Everton game he was one of the better performers
He's not quite been the player I thought he'd be, but we're only six games into the season and he's not exactly played badly yet. He's certainly done nothing to warrant being dropped. Nyatanga isn't as comfortable at left-back, as he would be in the middle, but he's no worse than George Smith. Unless we recruit a left-back, I'd leave it as we are. Not convinced Smith is good enough, besides a couple of good crosses.
But at least Smith will 'break the lines' down 'bomb alley' and deliver balls into the 'POMO'. Nyatanga is best served in the 'safe zone' or from set pieces, attacking in the 'corridor of confusion'.
