It wasn't really though, was it? (a total embarrassment) We were already down and the loanees and the not bothered brigade didn't play. So Devaney played what could be the nucleus of next seasons team. 3 young players made their full debuts, others had made a handful of appearances, others were very poor. Up against a very good Championship team. If the club had started the loanees and the rest there would have been uproar and criticism for not giving the youngsters a chance. At least we have seen something of next years team
[QUOTE="Lordtyke, . So Devaney played what could be the nucleus of next seasons team. Bloody hope not or we truly are fked!
Certainly is. We talk of a need for a complete clean slate, but that won't happen, cos at any level that will cost. I believe they'll go with minimal new faces next year, try the kids, try and drop lucky, see how they do, only changing anything if we are in the relegation area around xmas. Of course they won't have learnt anything from this year.
I've been watching the reds for 40plus years and that's the first time ever I haven't stopped at the end of the last home game of the season. PNE didn't even get out-of 2nd gear and was taking the piss, especially in the 2nd half.
There needs to be a lot of players leaving, some for the money, some because they need a new home and a few because they are not good enough. A experienced coach who knows the league and players, who can bring in some experienced players and create a close squad. I don't know who that coach is,but he's not from Europe nor is it Martin Devaney yet.
Desperately need to learn the lesson that experience is invaluable. Haven't learnt it yet under these owners.
Will we sign ANYBODY during the close season? Wouldn't surprise me if the answer was no with a view to getting to League 2 asap, even if it means going into admin next March just to make sure. I really don't know what the 80%ers are doing but I don't trust them an inch.
No we're not. We're just totally $hit. That's all. No-one really gives a flying fu¢k about us, apart from Wigan. I doubt the pubs of Sheffield, Rotherham, Donny, Leeds, Huddersfield etc etc etc will be full of rival supporters "laughing" at us.
I agree. I'm reminded of the words of the James Bond villain, Mr White, in Quantum Of Solace. "It's so amusing, because we are on the other side, thinking "Oh, the MI6, the CIA, they're watching over our shoulders, they're listening to our conversations." And the truth is, you don't even know we exist!"
