Germany, Argentina and half of Spain. So the fact we watched a France-Italy final where the ignominious end of Zidane's career was the main talking point just about sums it up. Upon reflection I'd have to say that Germany deserved to win. Perhaps I'll see if I can set up a poll . . .
How do you work that out? Spain came through a fairly easy group, they looked impressive against a 10 men Ukraine side that were very poor. They nearly lost against Saudi Arabia FFS. Germany's group was also shocking, Poland and Costa Rica were the worst teams in the tournament. Ghana + Argentina and i'd have liked to have seen more from the Ivory Coast, enjoyed watching these 3 teams the most. Argentina's coach (name?) blew their chances for me, made the wrong decisions in that Germany game.
I thought Germany looked the most consistent team in the tournament (although I recognise the glaring flaw in this reasoning as they got knocked out) and Argentina the most talented (the only team to really click). And hadn't Spain already qualified by the time they played Sandy Arabia? But that's why I set the poll up, I'm interested in which teams other people rated.
which is where you worded it badly as most people will tell you the team that won it deserve to. i understand what you are trying to get at though, the best team doesnt always win cup competitions
De Lima I agree I may have worded it better. Take De Lima for example. Easily leading the marathon in the 2004 Olympics when a loony in the crowd jumps him and he finishes third. So who deserved to win the 2004 Olympic marathon? The guy who won it, right?
