Long time reader but not posted for a while, yet in the fallout of the past two performances I just needed to vent some frustration.

Davey – Not been a fan since day one. Wanted him out last season. Gave him a second chance following Cryne’s comments over the Summer. Three league games in and my opinion has reverted back. He needs to go as we have took a step backwards from even last year and with a smaller squad. Sad to say he must be on his way!

Team – Disorganised, Lightweight, Lacking creativity & urgency, Shooting practice required.

Steele – Quality keeper. Good shot stopper. Kicking has been poor but confidence is probably low due to the lads in front of him. He was the subject of the boo boys after a few games last year without doing anything wrong. Keep the faith.

JCR – Dis-interested. Can’t cross for ****. Actually stayed wide all game last night but was hopeless. The only decent crosses this season have been put in by Hassell & Hume.

Anderson – Another quality player but has had a slow start to the season (was injured in the run up tho) Needs a battler at the side of him to give him that time he requires. Butterfield will be good but not ready yet.

Kayode – Never been a footballer. He’s a big, strong athlete NOT a footballer. Never was, never will be.

Hamill – Must be injured as he is the shadow of the player he was last season. Hasn’t put one decent ball in since his return and shirked a couple of 50/50’s last night. Going to be a star tho. Another great signing showing yet again that Davey is a decent scout but will never cut it as a manager.

Hume – Great to see him back. Was by far the best player in a red shirt last night. We missed him taking the set pieces last year and he gave his all yesterday despite struggling in the 2nd half (something Davey decided to ignore despite him only being 75% fit from the start). Will be firing on all cylinders again soon and boy do we need him!

Overall – Poor league performances so far except for 25 minutes at Hillsborough. Lack of confidence. Tactically inept manager.

I’m sure a new gaffer will freshen things up and get a better organisation to the team and get more out of a decent crop of players.

Note: Why does Davey not employ the Multi-Ball system at Oakwell to speed things up and put visitors on the back foot by going at them? Just an idea, as we seem to meandering along at times or wasn’t this included in his courses? Coaching badges my ars……….

I totally agree 100% especially the multiball, loved when Hume was subbed and how he went off at the side to speed it up (clap) (clap)

Top man... you are right...said it all last year.. he can get players in, he cant coach....his tactical skills are dire... he doesnt make substitutions when he should...he cant change the formation of the team or pattern of play mid game....he is not a good coach.....He may be well respected in the office through the week playing the Football Manager....what we need is some one who can get the best out of the players on a game day...on the pitch.

    didn't work though

because the ref wouldn't restart the game until he'd walked round the pitch behind the goals

What I can't understand about the tactics is this.............

Why do we pass the ball about so effectively working a space so someone is in a position to then HOOOF it high up to Odejayi

Ok Odejayi is the only striker at the club that has height and strength...........but can't Davey see that Odejayi is going to lose or mis-direct 99% of all the passes he receives.
At best Odejayi can be used as a threat and someone to make life awkward for the oppositions defence
But surely Odejayi CANNOT be the central pivitol point of all our attacks.

Compare this style of play to Sheffield United. They have the same form of attack. Everything is hooofed high towards Henderson and then pieces are picked up by the other forwards and midfielders that feed off knock downs from Henderson or defensive mistakes because of the presence of Henderson.
The main difference here is that Henderson is a footballer............Odejayi isn't

Basic point here is that if we are to play in this style the centre forward has to be very very good
If not its a waste of time and other options have to be explored

Or..........we can bring two strikers into the club so we have competition betwen the two........both being tall and strong and can actually play football

    RE: didn't work though

Very poor referee again last night. My mate actually knew him and text him after the game about the penalty and he said: "It looked as if they both had hold of each other".

Gave some very dodgy decisions up until the 3rd goal when everyone gave up. Especially the freekick that led to the 2nd. Plus how can Parkin give away a dozen fouls but doesn't get even a talking to??

Big priase to Hume like Chester said. Only one to show any urgency and comitment to the cause instead of walking over the otherside of the pitch milking the applause. Top bloke!

Good post and agree with everything except the bit about Steele becoming the target of the boo boys. I dont remember him getting any criticism in fact he got a lot of support over the way he was dropped.
