A lot of talk about Chris O’Grady on this site and I would imagine the Sheffield Wednesday sites this week. I don’t watch Sheffield Wednesday a lot, highlights and when they are on skys about it but he seemed to struggle there. What I’ve noticed about the guy though. I noticed that he’s a player that excels in a 2 and he likes to move a lot and this is why he’s done well whilst playing with the likes Pedersen and Dagnall. Although they are different talents they are similar types of players, ie get in behind the defence and stretch the defence and push them back. Whys that important for O’Grady. Well that allows Chris to pick a man (normally the right back or right centre back) and he will dominate that guy. Hes not just a battering ram hes a player that’s got quite a bit of talent when on the ball and that’s why he can out think a defender with that turn. Something Chris struggles with, Lone striker. Anyone that went to King power stadium this season will have seen this. The Leicester defence only had Chris to deal with and he did little. Surprising that such a strong guy struggles in that role. Maybe that’s why he didn’t do well at Sheffield Wednesday My take on the main CO’G in the Barnsley attacking wheel.
Madine was his battering ram at Wendy as proved against us last year. Jones just didn't like him for some reason even though if they are honest the Wendy fans rated him. Looks lie we got the better deal against Wendy for once
One of your best ever posts that, Phil. Very interesting, and I agree with you. Our manager knows how to get the best out of Chris. Jones didn't.
Good post. I agree O'Grady plays a lot better with other strikers like Pedersen or Dagnall. Hoping to see COG and Pedersen start tomorrow and run their defence ragged.
