The FA has charged the Hartlepool keeper with violent conduct for an incident the referee missed in the game at Fleetwood on Saturday.Lee Barrett has been given a three match ban.

    Booked for dissent

Apparently the ref missed the incident itself.

    convenient isnt it

seems a bit odd that the keeper who had just commited violent conduct and got away with it would be complaining to the ref

Forward seemed to have gone into the keeper with a raised elbow.

That's what he would have been complaining about then. Keeper then retaliated witha couple of swings of the elbow at the guy as they were both on the floor.

    cheers owen

Here's a question, if you swing an arm twice then shouldnt that be 2 instances of violent conduct that should both be investigated?

I just find everything about elbowing a disgrace.

Unfortunately it's become part and parcel of the game right from the grass roots. It's unbelievable really. I refereed our U11's game the other week and one of the coaches from the other team shouted 'keep you elbows up' to one of their players. The lad then threw his arm back as someone went to tackle him! I called the lad over and told him never to do anything like that ever again and if I caught him doing anything else in the game he would be watching from the side. Their coach then shouted, 'it was 6 of one...' etc.! We had words. It's unbelievable what kids are being told is OK, it really is.

and that is all down to the FA and the likes of Andy D'Urso

By condoning the use of the elbow in the premiership and football league they are sending a message all the way down to your age group that it is ok and that is where the problem lies, you can't expect a 10 year old (or younger) to understand that it isn't ok when they see their heroes being allowed to do it on TV.

For me any player found guilty of violent conduct by using an elbow should have to wear elbow pads in ALL future games to protect opponents, likewise any player guilty of punching should wear padded gloves, it would soon stop them

Typical inaction of all football authorites I'm afraid.

What happened to booking people for diving, yellow card for showing an imaginary card etc. They never seem to follow anything though.

Elbowing should mean hefty bans, but they daren't.

Yes, we play down at Myrtle Park now as a joint team.

Eldwick U12's has just folded too. Chairman seems to have lost interest that's why the web-site isn't done, not that he actually speaks to me!

We have quite a few young ones though, under 6 and under 5 even. We're looking at avoiding going into the league next season and playing 4 a sides though. Played3 U6 friendlies so far too, that means the kids have been attacked by Bingley, Menston and Sutton! Bingley had one kid whose sole job was to try to knock our players down if they went in the Bingely half, Sutton had a lad shout 'aaaarghh' and launch himself in a 2 footed lunge at the ball, this was on our kick-off! Ref played on. U6's that is.

    Pity

I'd have loved Tom to stay at Eldwick and would love them to get a spark again under different stewardship. Tom lost all interest at the back end of last season and it was a struggle just to get him interested again, he refused to play under Nigelbut he has built it up again now; not as cocky and loud-mouthed, just gets on with it. I'm his biggest critic but his performance on Sunday was nothing short of brilliant. Seems a decent enough set-up down there, the U10 coach is as quiet and mild-mannered as you could find. Oliver is doing really well, don't know if you remember him ........ plays like a 13 year old; very fast and powerful.

    I remember Oliver.

Bingley will be interested if the kids are decent enough, trouble is, they only want the better players down there and it's win at all costs. That's theattitude I've come across with them anyway. They now want to merge the 3 local clubs to get all the best players together in one team! I can't be doing with their attitude, it stinks. Don't know the guy who runs the U10's mind.

    True .....

I only speak for the Under 10s ........ don't know the other teams that well. Under 10s have got Gary Wilson and a guy called Arnie running them. Fair play, they seem OK. I know a guy called Pete who runs one of the younger teams; he's a decent guy, couldn't see him producing malicious kids. Only one I know up for a fight is the Under 14 / 15 (?) manager whose life seems to revolve around the two games per season against Shipley.

If it's the same Pete then he doesn't speak to me either!

He was reffing the U6's game, brought it back for a free kick to us despite us having 4 players bearing down on their keeper and no defenders! That about sums him up.I don't like him as you can guess (he already knows that).
