Must admit I cant quite understand how the sentencing guidelines reach a sentance that short Its basically GBH with aggravating factors
Horrific. I lived in Luton for a year and god knows how he even managed to get up to 59mph on there it's such an hectic street. Hope the poor boy recovers well.
Think that’s bada drunk driver in Lincoln who was twice over the limit and fled the scene on foot, got only Seven years for killing 2 teenagers sat in a lay-by. Edit, just watched the video, I meant the sentence not the act.
I’m not part of the throw away the key brigade or hang em high squad but these judges are really stoking the fire for these sorts of comments . The inconsistency is breathtaking in all levels of crime . Surely a consensus of sentencing for all crimes across the board can be agreed with obviously some scope for circumstances etc. But there’s just no excuse for this whatsoever
A suppose try telling that to the parents of the boy who’s fighting for his life! While I don’t think for a minute they’ll have gone out with intentions to hurt some by hit and run nevertheless there actions could cause a death and for me that should carry a sentence of at least 15 years
Completely agree the sentence is a joke but I'll add one thing ; saw the video at work off a friend's mobile and the first thing I said was the chase wants calling off , ten seconds later and the unforunate kid got hit . It was daylight with pedestrians present and not the time to go chasing .
People who use motor vehicles as weapons whether intentionally or as a result of driving recklessly, always seem to get away with lenient sentences. The number of injuries and deaths on our roads is appalling but is accepted by the public with a shrug of the shoulders, whereas in any other walk of life there would be outrage.
