Our business has been receiving abusive emails from a guy, who basically keeps on saying that we're a rip off and that we should be shut down by trading standards. We think he's a rival seller, and we now have an email address of his. Does anyone know if we can find out who he is from this email address? The emails are getting pretty nasty, and really unnecessary
If you contact the mail provider i.e Yahoo etc they should be able to stop the mailer from sending to your box. Alternatively if the mails are of a certain nature then contct the police.
inform the old bill. let them do the spade work and also if the emails are untrue tell him to foxtrot oscar or face legal action
Is it from a private domain (e.g. not a hotmail, yahoo etc)? Check his emal address headers. He may have given away his IP address in that. Use ripe to look up his service provider and send an email to their abuse unit detailing the emails.
RE: If you contact the mail provider I think my Sister has done that before and then they've just changed email addresses. The emails aren't threatening or anything (as far as I'm aware) but pretty insulting considering how much hard work my Dad has put in etc
