Supporter were handed a letter as they went in this morning warning us about our future behaviour. It was also noted that players and officials now enter the field through a separate entrance to supporters. No doubt theres measures are a reaction to the trouble at the Sheffield Wednesday game. The team is still without White and Jennings, also as a result of that game. Osmsby limped to the bench on crutches, so the team was down to the bare bones. The game was level at half time, although Leeds had dominated the first half. The avalanche started when the keeper got under a cross which floated into the top corner, his first mistake of the season. After that, goals came at regular intervals, partly as a result of individual errors, partly because team discipline failed, and partly because Leeds were better individually. I will certainly be watching out for Stafan Connor and Nathan Cartman in future. For Barnsley, there was less to be enthused about. Jacob Butterfield was probably our best player, but he does not seem to be performing as well as he did last year. After his 2 goals for the reserves during the week I expected more from Federenko, but he was constantly caught out of position in his centre mid-field role giving Cartman plenty of space to play in. Luke Waterfall held together a makeshift defence and deserves praise in spite of the scoreline. The team had just 6 2nd year students and 5 1st years. The substitutes were all under 16 players showing the paucity of the resources available. I hope that White and Jennings have taken note. Having said that, the second years are now playing for contracts and it was quite clear today that 2 of them are already not up to it.
