The goal came in the first half. Potter took the ball down the left and then cut inside to hit a low cross into the box. Federenko flicked the ball around his marker and ran past him down the other side. He reached the ball about 8 yards out and scored easily.

    Team 4-4-1-1

    1. Danny Free (year 1)
Had little to do, but coped well with a stream of crosses and overhit through balls.
    2. Danny Smith (year 2)
When Danny first came into the side, he was my "one to watch". That was 2 years ago and although he is still solid, he has dropped back into the pack.
    3. Luke Potter (year 3)
My guess is that the manager wanted him to have a competitive game under his belt. He had a very good first half and made the goal. However, he allowed far too many crosses in the second half and seemed to lose concentration as he tired.
    4. Ryan Jennings (year 2)
My MotM. His positioning was sound and his reading of the game allows him to make interceptions and set attacks in motion. Made everything look easy.
    5. Luke Waterfall (year 2)
Luke is a huge lump of a lad who wins everything in the air. He tends to be drawn out of position by following his man into midfield.
    6. Liam Ormsby (year 2)
Was kept out of the side by Jacob White last season, but if he plays as well as this his place is secure. Worked hard and passed well.
    7. Greg McGrory (year 2)
With a left winger in year 1, his place must be at risk. He has added more steel to his tackling since last year but is still light weight. He does not seem to have the pace to beat the full back.
    8. Jacob Butterfield (year 2)
Surely a player in the making. His first touch is so good that he time, a valuable commodity at this level. He has pace over the first 10 yards which he uses to beat his marker and a shot in either foot.
    9. Danny Warburton (year 1)
Very small which means that he has to play on the ground. He retreated away from the front line and sometimes dropped far too deep, causing consternation from our bench.
    10. Jamal Adam (year 1)
Often found himself alone up front and he is not big enough for such a role. He looks to have promise but will need more support.
    11. Luke Federenko (year 2)
Looks to have had a good summer and has improved a lot. Scored a good individual goal and had other chances.

No sub were used but they were Tom Mellor, Matin Grundy, Nick Simmonds (all year 1) and Jacob White and Marc Devonshire (year 2).
