Barnsley 3 (og, Butterfield, Coulson (pen)) Manchester United 2 It was a great surprise to see TV cameras and a commentary box down at Oakwell this morning. How the other half live, those with a subscription to MUTV can sit at home and have live action delivered to their living room. This was the first time all season that the opposition appeared younger than the reds. The first incident of note was when Kyle Wyatt hit the post after creating a chance from the edge of the box. However, after that Man U gradually took control in midfield and were unfotunate when their forward beat our keeper to a bouncing ball in the box but the resulting lob just cleared the bar. It was against the run of play when the first goal came. On the stroke of half time, Kyle Wyatt tested the full back down the left, and managed to cross to the near post where Coulson, a Man U defender and the Man U keeper arrived at the same time. A distracted keeper could only push the ball into the path of another retreating defender (4) and he could not avoid pushing the ball home. Barnsley's second came about 20 minutes later. Jacob Butterfield pick up a lose ball about 40 yards from goal. He carried the ball forward for 20 yards before hitting a glorious shot into the keepers top right corner. Barnsley went 3-0 ahead 10 minutes later from a dubious penalty. The MU keeper and Kyle Wyatt converged on to a lose ball. The MU keeper appeared to get there fractionally first to clear the ball into touch, but the referee judged it to be a penalty, from which Coulson scored high to the keeper right. Man U threw caution to the wind but Potter and Waterfall looked well in charge at the back. However the retreating Coulson brought down a Man U midfielder 25 yards from goal and the Man U 6 scored an excellent goal from the free kick. With only minutes left, Man U won a corner. The ball was not properly cleared and the Man U 7 scored the best goal of the game with a stunning volley from a difficult angle on the right of the box. Best players in reds shirts, for me Butterfield stood out for his performance in midfield, although he does need to watch the tackling for which he earned a booking and appeared to be on a final warning near the end. Potter did well and Waterfall had his best game in a red shirt. Team: Waggett (GK), Jennings (RB), Smith (LB), Potter (CH), Waterfall (CH), McGrory (RM), Butterfield (CM), White (CM), Frost (LM), Wyatt (ST), Coulson (ST) Fedorenko replaced McGrory and Ormsby replaced Frost
