i am coming over to barnsley to watch the pre-season and opening games of the new season and i am looking for a reasonably priced bed and breakfast near town centre. i used to stay at the Queens hotel but i understand that it is now closed. can anyone recomend any places and approximate rates? i will be arriving manchester airport on tuesday july 25th between 2-3 pm and want to watch the home game vs. middlesborrough that night at 7:30 start. which is the quickest best cost effective way ie bus or train. anyone know what time the buses or train run to get me into barnsley in time to check in to accomadtion and make the kickoff? i would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone can offer.
You can get a train from Manchester airport to Sheffield or Leeds, probably your best bet. Unless you sort something out with Ady (TaxiRed)! There's a Travelodge down Stairfoot http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hotel/hotel/hotel_id/107/Barnsley or the Keel Inn at bottom of Old Mill Lane which are probably decent bets for your accomodation. A few places here http://www.locallife.co.uk/barnsley/guesthouses3.asp
If you are feeling very flush you could go to the Brooklands for about £85 per night(yikes) http://www.brooklandshotel.com/brook_accom.htm
I didn't realise K G V had accomodation According the the web, £20 per night (including Breakfast). This is right in the middle of town (King George V). If you like, I'll call in and ask them for you.
RE: I didn't realise K G V had accomodation IS THERE ANYWAY OF GETTING ME A CONTACT NUMBER TO CALL AS SO I CAN CONFIRM RATES AND AVAILABILTY AS WELL AS TO CHECK THE LOCATION OF THE PUB ITSELF. PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU GET A SEC AND CAN FIND THIS OUT AS FROM WHERE I AM GETTING THIS INFO IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. HERE IS MY CONTACT EMAIL BUCKORTWO120@SHAW.CA ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THE QUEENS HOTEL WOULD BE IDEAL AS IT WAS LOACTED CENTRALLY AND FIT THE BILL NICELY. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
You got the Hoyle Mill Inn about ten minutes walk from the ground. Fantastic Pub, not sure about the accomodation side though, loads of barnsley fans stay there throughout the season
