We have a love in with the Fowls. I have never noticed this. Could someone please explain when this was??
No love in but more respect for owls than blades .the owls feel they should be a massive club but the blunts really think they are
Apparently we've been sucking upto them. I can only assume it's because United are such a world dominant club.
I've lived amongst the unwashed for thirty odd years and have found the blunts are on a planet slightly closer to earth than your average wendy.
I had the misfortune to check out that Twitterfeed. The most ironic was the one about us apparently enjoying relationships with our own kin - the inbred Fritzls do understand irony over there, yeah? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...l-and-his-27year-reign-of-terror-1035151.html
Think I've always had more of a gripe with Wednesday as a few lads I grew up with, Barnsley born and bred, were and still are Wednesday fans. I do know the odd United fan from Barnsley but it's nothing on the scale of Wednesday. Yes they were a solid top division team at the time but they never did anything special, since their relegation from the PL many many years ago I'd say we have actually enjoyed more success than them.
I don't have much love for Wednesday. A lot of my family support Wednesday, but they were born and live in Sheffield. I know quite a few Wednesday fans, and to be honest, there isn't one who has ever tried to act all billy big ********. They are a big club, and they know they are, but I've not met one who belittles the little clubs and thinks they have a right to be in the premier league. Don't get me wrong, this type of Wednesday fan does exist. I don't like Wednesday, in the same way I don't like Leeds, Doncaster or Huddersfield. They're a rival. Then there's Sheffield United. Admittedly, I know far fewer United fans. Some of them, (generally the ones aged above 30) are decent lads who you can have a conversation with. But it has come to the point where when I meet someone from Sheffield, I can usually tell what football team they support based on how they act. If they're a bit of a ****, 9/10 they seem to be United fans. Had an incident a few years ago out in Sheffield. Met some lads around my age, United fans, had a chat, a few drinks and sung songs with them. Seemed decent enough lads. Then got back to the trainstation going for the last train, and the United lads were on the opposite platform, and all of a sudden, decided that they were "hard". Throwing bottles and "wanting to go". So hard that they had waited to do this just as their train was pulling in. Hopped on said train and started flicking the V. There was another lad I met on holiday, thought he was a **** at the time. Wanted my phone number to keep in touch; me being the pleasant chap I am obliged. Said chap only ever text me when United ever beat us after that, just to tell me how many fingers I had and how **** my town and team were. Then there's the fans on radio Sheffield. Wanting their manager sacking g if they're ever below 4th in the league, including when they were in the premier league. Brian the Blade and his very very very accurate attendance rants; we average 5,000 allegedly. The ones who constantly phone up the programme asking where the money has gone, as though every penny which is received in a transfer fee should be put back into transfers. "Where's the Tevez money gone", "Where's the Kyle's money gone", "Where's the Maguire money gone", have a day off!!! Then there's the activities of their club. Starting with Neil Warnock's blatant cheating in that game with West Brom all those years ago. The handling of Iain Hume's assault. The handling of the Tevez fracas. Their intention to sue anyone who caused them to suffer financially. Then there was Kevin Blackwell. Then Daniel Bogdanovic who stated that signing for Sheffield United was a dream come true, nothing to do with the free flights he would have no doubt received through main club sponsor, 'Visit Malta'. And their history isn't that good and their attendance isn't anywhere near as good as Wednesday's. And besides, even if it was, it's gotten them 5 points further up the football pyramid than us, so well done to them. So that's why I don't like Sheffield United. And if that means I'm having a 'love in' with Sheffield Wednesday, then so be it.
One of the Blunts has been a busy boy. This thread will have gone viral by 2pm tomorrow. He's just posting it on Mumsnet at the moment.
One of them said to me it would be nice for us to see a crowd - my reply - nice of you to bring one for a change
I actually didn't mind Colin too much apart from the infamous game against WBA which sums up the club really. The two I really detested were Blackwell and Ellis. I remember Ellis being interviewed on Radio Sheff after the Hume incident and he was asked for his view of the incident. His smug reply - "what incident?" - what an absolute ***** of a human being. I took great joy in his sacking.
Seen as though Bladesmad are reading this thread (linked on their forum) and being unable to log onto that board, due to posting real life Sheffield inbred stories instead of making ***** Dingle stuff up. I'm wondering why their supporters are playing this game down? It's their biggest game of the season, it was at Bramall Lane, that's why it's their biggest attendance this season. They don't care about us....... Righto.
Try living in Penistone with the deluded Wednesday fans, they think there champions league contenders, w ankers the lot of em
Makes em feel bigger or more relevant if they try to disassociate themselves from us, or claim we're not a rival etc. Wednesday do it too. I also find it laughable when they describe it as our 'cup final'. I know we won the FA Cup at their stadium, but I'm struggling to understand their logic on that one. Facts are, we both dislike each other, both want to beat each other and no amount of pretending otherwise will alter that. When they (and us) say similar things regards Donny or Chesterfield, fair enough. Because there isn't a rivalry there. They're just local games. But any Barnsley/Blunts games are big ones and mean more to supporters than 90% of your other fixtures. But unlike our games against Wednesday, we've a decent record against this lot. Some great memories. Because when all's said and done, we're similar size clubs. They might do us on gates, but Arsenal get more in than Liverpool, wouldn't suggest they're any bigger though. We're a small town club and considering that, our attendances are impressive. I'm sure that were we to have an extra 200,000 people living in the town/city/borough we'd get 20,000 too. Looking forward to tomorrow.
