It was all our lads' fault. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19976781 And from last night's game the friendly way the crowd react to a black player walking towards them http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19979603
I hear they've also come out in support of Lance Armstrong and believe that Hillsborough was the fault of the fans...
Damn beat me to it - I was just about to add a comment about Muhammed saeed al-Sahhaf has obviously got a new job [h=1][/h]
This is absolutely scandalous and has infuriated me... the evidence is there in the form of the fans video in which monkey chanting can clearly be heard. It is incredulous that they are denying there was any racist abuse. UEFA must take a severe line on this and I hope they ban them from competition in some form rather than the paltry fines which are eclipsed by those teams are handed for entering the pitch two minutes late. It is by no means the first instance of racist behaviour from Serbian fans and to then blame these events on Danny Rose shows they are in no way committed to eradicating racism. If English clubs were banned for the actions of hooligans then so should Serbia for this disgusting behaviour. Only then might the Serbian FA realise this is a serious problem which is simply unacceptable.
their not bad are they those serbians, that Radovan Karadzic saying in his trial that he didn't see any killing in sarajevo and that he cried everytime a shell burst in the city what a fekin race.
The whole situation was a disgrace. If that had happened in England, by an England team, then Blatter and Platini would be speaking out about and condemning it within hours. Just goes to show what a sham UEFA and FIFA have become.
No way do I condone the actions of mindless hooligans but to compare the 5 year ban on English clubs following the death of 39 Italians to last nights disgusting behaviour beggars belief.
True, but there was also a cumulative effect to take in to account with the ban of English clubs from Europe - with Heysel being the final straw. I think it would be fair to say that the Serbians are beginning to build an 'impressive' list of incidents which should be taken in to account in the future.
I didn't intend it to be a direct comparison and I apologise for any offence caused, but the point is that the English FA and government seriously moved to address problems of hooliganism after the ban, and perhaps the only way to cause a similar reaction within Serbia is to ban them from competition, precisely to prevent tragic situations like Heysel.
In 2003 England played Turkey at Sunderland's Stadium of Light. A big game, an emerging Rooney on fire and a very hot atmosphere. England won and after the late goal, there was a small pitch invasion. Uefa threatened us with possible expulsion because of it but of course never took it further. If that's their tolerance level, Serbia should be banned for three years! Of course they won't and maybe they shouldn't be, but just shows Uefa can throw their weight around when it suits them.
Then along with Serbia, uefa should impose a similar lengthy ban on Spain, Russia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Suarez oh yeah and John terry!!!!!!
I see that UEFA have charged BOTH Serbia and England for what happened. I have only seen the edited highlights, but they are enough evidence for the unacceptable Serbian behaviour. UEFA had better get this one right on 22nd November, otherwise the beautiful game will be in its death-throes for sure. You can only conclude from their statement that the Serbian FA has key members with racist attitudes. The whole debacle was unbelievable and unacceptable. As bad as that Bedlington Terriers FA cup tie a few years back. Better get it right, UEFA. Really do feel for Danny Rose. What is he supposed to do when subjected to racist chanting from before kick-off, being hit by stones/objects thrown from the crowd and then being taunted by berserk Serbian players and officials after the game to goad him into something worse. Kicking the ball away was mild by contrast. How on earth could the ref show him a red card? Go to European Court of Human Rights, Danny, if UEFA don't come to your support.
