Robins wants to bring his own people with him - and we are in contact with other managers

You'd think that a manager could bring his own staff in

Davey did as does every other manager.

    Exactly.

They'd pay off Kidd, O'Hanlon etc as per Davey.

    It's what happens.

    My thinking

Robins wants to come, but wants his own backroom staff. Understandable and to be expected and I can't imagine we won't have expected it.

Robins still has to meet PC and get the nod from him. If that happens, I think PC will then see how much it will cost to bring in the rest of the team, and pay off Kidd and the rest.

I imagine there will be restrictive covenants in all the contracts of employment and they will be trying to agree suitable compensation. You think Robins is a good appointment?

I don't know mate. I think he's worked wonders at Rotherham when you take into account their points deduction and all the issues surrounding their ground etc. Whether he could repeat that at Barnsley who knows ?

At least it's a step up from appointing the first bloke they see at The Academy but in an ideal world I'd have liked someone with a better track record at a higher level - but all the good ones are employed....

We look ragged this season and I don't know why, so whoever comes in has a very big job to do already. If it is Robins I think that is a massive gamble, but sometimes they pay off.

It's essential that if Robins is to be employed the club must rid itself of Kidd, O'Hanlan and Co. Otherwise, if they are not removed it possibly creates a catalytic senario and along with certain players the new guy would have to watch his back.

    From the Rotherham Advertiser

The Advertiser understands the Rotherham United boss has still to reach agreement with the Reds over his salary demands and the number of backroom staff he wants to take with him.

Robins spent around two hours at Oakwell on Wednesday night discussing a move with their directors Don Rowing and Barry Taylor.

The negotiations went well but, according to sources close to Barnsley, they had issues with Robins salary expectations and his wish to take at least three back-room staff to join him at the Championship outfit.

It'll be like the Wigan/Martinez situation.

Robins will have a compensation price written into his contract but his backroom staff won't. They'll be negotiating a price for the lot.

This is where you need the man with the money talking and not just the staff.

But as you said about removing Davey

We could do a lot worse as well.

A deal could be sealed very easily at Prestwich.

Sign on the dotted line Mark.

It was time for a change

but the thought of signing a League 2 manager on a long term contract fills me with dread. My benchmark, for the record is survival. If Robins keeps us up, I've no issue whatsoever. If we go down, I will be reminding people of Davey's track record of achievement.

    Piss poor.

If they want him to work with Kidd et al they want shooting.

If he wants top notch wages though tell him to f.ck off and get someone who can command the money.
