The lack of quality journalists these days is something I have commented before. Standards year on year plumb new depths. Real investigative journalism is only carried out by a very few papers these days. The rest rely on press releases, handouts and social media. They cant even be bothered to check facts or names before going to print. Even if the tea boy did write this, a mentor should have at least made sure he got the name and age correct. Basic stuff and disrespectful when reporting a death.
Agree completely, but I'm noticing it in other professions too where you'd expect quality and a lack of basic mistakes. Is this down to laziness or targets which everyone has to hit these days I wonder.
