We've arranged a friendly against Bury at Gigg Lane on Saturday 4th August , kick off 3pm . Does that mean next season starts on Saturday 11th August ?

Gigg Lane...1998/99 Season 0-0 (one of the most boring games ever)!!!

It was made bearable by having a skinful prior to the game. I was at Uni in Manchester and the lads came over from tarn for a weekend. We had a few of drinks in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester then jumped the Metrolink tram to Bury. The ground is about a 15 min walk from the Metrolink station. I remember playing pool in a boozer packed with Reds fans on Manchester Road?

We took a fair few but the game was terrible, I remember we started counting the home supporters and poking fun at their dugouts and 'refreshments' stall which seemed to have been knocked together using left over bits from conservatories.

To top it all on the way back to Manchester we boarded the tram when some bright spark said, "this goes to Altrincham, it doesn't stop at Piccadilly"...I stepped on to the platform to check and the doors shut behind me. Cue guffaws from half the train and me having to wait 20mins for the next one, whilst the lads were whisked off into the sunset!

Altogether a decent little ground and well set up for a night out in Manchester afterwards. Gigg Lane is the home ground for F.C. United Manchester the breakaway team from MUFC.

Is this instead of paying them the extra £25 k when we stay up?

I hope to see you on 28 April best wishes.
