I know that everything coming out of Oakwell this season seems to suggest an inexorable path to Self Destruction but surely, SURELY this can't be true. Can the club seriously be considering a man more or less universally reviled by the ever dwindling number of Barnsley fans? The man will never be forgiven for his stance on the Morgan/Hume scandal so how on earth can he even comtemplate coming to Oakwell as manager?

I hope this is just typically shoddy journalism because, if not, the club will self destruct sooner rather than later. Any new football manager, or player, must be given a chance to prove himself but Blackwell would be up against the wall from the start. I can't see any way that he can get the job - it just can't happen, can it? Oh, and by the way, he has piloted Bury to the bottom of League One this season and is in dispute with the club about lack of finance. Err..........

if he's get appointed, the only thing the Barnsley team will be playing in front of the the tumbleweed blowign behind the net, and the flickers of season tickets been blown about in the wind.

i know some times the powers above are a picnic short of a picnic but this would be...

The only reason I can think of to appoint Blackwell is to kill the club completely. If that's the plan it will work but if not he really shouldn't be on a short list of 100,000,000.

The only thing worse would be Blackwell being appointed and bringing Morgan in as his number two.

I would expect this is shocking journalism, beacuse if any journalist worth his salt would look into the "previous" that BFC and Blackwell have had, then it is simply not even worth a mention/ink to print the paper.

Blackwell not a chance in my lifetime.

Apparently both o'driscoll and megson are on it as well. Those two have got to be first choice over that muppet blackwell

Sad to say it, but mine too. I have been following them since 1962 but it would be hard to keep that run going. Impossible in fact because the club would cease to be. Has to be a joke.......right??

They must know that they can't appoint him surely? Even Don Rowing can't be that out of touch with the feelings of the few fans that we've got left, can he??

Strangely, he could be, yes! For all the weasel words that go on the official site about "realigning the club with the fans" etc etc we all know that they don't have the first idea how to do just that. If they did we wouldn't be in such a sorry state. It's bad enough that locally based fans cannot be bothered to go any more but if this goes on the big group of exiles (of which I am one) will stop going as well. I went to Peterborough because it was "only" 70 miles from my home. I must have been off my head!!!!

I salute you mate, because I've got mates who have gone home and away for years and they can't drag themselves up to Oakwell from the Courthouse at the moment!

After Warnock going to Leeds and then signing Diouf, nothing would surprise me.
If Blackwell did become our manager, a 10 game unbeaten run would soon challenge these ideals.

We wouldn't manage a 10 game unbeaten run if we appointed Ferguson and Wenger as our Managerial duo never mind that tosspot
