Quote: "I'm delighted with the result, very pleased for the players but it's been hard. I don't think the result is too fair towards Barnsley because they played a good game. Yes, probably we deserved to win but not in that way." He goes on to say saves by Almunia kept the score down, the 2nd goal being the killer. I see Tudgay was at fault again for their first, let Deeney get a free header in. Individual mistakes again, not a case of the team being out played.
Perhaps, after what happened on Tuesday night, as manager you might have thought twice about again allowing the same player to pick up the opposition's most dangerous centre forward. But then again I don't have a football education.
I have to agree he's good in the air Tudgay but Id always say a centre half should mark their best striker on set pieces. Two goals + two clangers puts him on nil. I hope Hill has told him that.
I think he is being somewhat economical with the truth as they had over 20 attempts on goal. Even though inperiods we did play well we got ****ing hammered. It's simple beating barnsley. Get out the blocks at them force pressure on the defence pressing hard and you'll get your rewards.
Exactly, I really thought Hill would have realised that after the Burnley game but it seems not. I look forward to seeing Tudgay marking Waghorn on Saturday.
Him n Keith mustv'e been to different games then Visiting manager Keith Hill, commenting on his side’s defeat, said: “There was nothing even about it. “We rode our luck with respect to the first half. We made some horrendous decisions in and out of possession. “The best team won and I’ve got to congratulate Gianfranco (Zola, Watford’s manager) because I think he’s got an excellent side. “We were very susceptible. We looked weak against the opposition so I don’t think we were ever in the game
Which is consistent with his statement about not sheltering the players anymore hard graft required this week.
Fozzie played very well, if we can coax performances like that from his 3 defensive colleagues we would have as sound basis to go and attack sides. I would not blame Tudgay for the goal, a striker of his stature can not be expected to pick up their most dangerous set piece striker.
I can see where Zola is coming from. But, these basic mistakes are happening week in week out. Until the players are more disciplined and professional in their approach, nothing much will change. We I'd have chances to score, but they weren't taken.
I listened to the game on the radio. Seemed pretty even first half, chances at both ends. Could have been 3 a piece at half time. Second half they slaughtered us. Either the ball was in the back of the net or Luke Steele was making a world class save or the ball was pinging off the frame of the goal. It could have easily been 7 or 8. Zola was being magnanimous in victory. He's a decent, charming bloke and he didn't want to kick us while we were down because he's not that type of person.
Both Zola and Di Matteo come across as two gentleman of the game, even more impressive considering they spent a huge part of their career at a club like Chelsea!
Not in my opinion. Whatever that statistics say (in terms of Watford's attempts), the goals they actually scored were gifted to them. There was a major collapse in the last 30 minutes and a stream of chances followed. If we continue to defend like that, we won't be able to win any more matches (irrespective of how well or not the opposition has played).
