My other half is starting a business as a sole trader. I've said i will look after her accounts record-keeping on my accounts package. She hasn't traded yet and her business bank account shows zero funds. however, she has laid out about 300 quid getting set up. How do i deal with this do i start her on zero at the bank then put receipts through tying her in negative balance until the money comes in or put through an owners loan any help would be gr8 i want to start off right. Ta... Tony

I've done similar and used £500, think you can call it a loan. If she's not already done so get her to speak to Barnsley Launchpad. I've set up with them and they will help with everything. They are doing online seminars/classes at the minute that help with different areas. One of them is tax etc
