I hate when I have to post and run, makes it look like I've got no comeback. I think you'll find we agree on a number of basic things, however, interpretations of how and what rules and governance are and what they are meant to be there for may differ hugely. We do live in an incredibly fluffy society and it's of our own creation and before you jump to conclusions, please read what I'm trying to say and maybe make some allowances if my example doesn't meet with your interpretations. There is and always was a fully justified need for basic laws to be enforced that looked after people's human rights etc. In my life so far I've seen this law been enforced in a way that makes me angry and seen it taken to such extremes that I don't understand and have seen its detrimental impact on our existance. My example is that of our prison system. I cannot for the life of me understand how a prisoner, who has raped, murdered, robbed, mugged, beaten and taken away the basic human rights of someone else, can then use the same law to make their life better whilst serving their time. Prisoners in category A prisons have a more comfortable life then many of our population in our 'free society'. Sky, pool/snooker tables, specific diets according to their adopted religion (which can change on a daily basis), gyms, legal aid, wages, hiring dvds from blockbuster, special privalages, whatever education they feel they'd like and so on. That example is the thin end of the wedge, but how is that a deterant to crime? I'm sure it started a long time before this farce, but this crap has continued to filter into our communities. Teachers aren't allowed to discipline, the principle behind school uniforms (everyone is equal) being watered down, parents threatening teachers. Kids are not responsible for their actions, it's society's fault, is my dads fault, it's definitely not my fault. I wasn't born in the right street, village etc. If you were trying to imply that everyone that is born into poverty is more likely to run around torching cars, robbing people etc then I think you misunderstand human nature more then you realise. John Bird - Founder of the Big Issue roughly said at a conference I went, something he called the dog **** factor "if you walk out your door and tread in dog **** what do you do? Do you pick it up or ring the council to blame someone else. In todays society we're all too quick to make that phone call" It doesn't have to be everyone elses fault. People's attitudes need to change and things will improve. Sometimes you really have to make the most of what you have and pick yourself up. Believe it or not, there are some really wealthy teenagers running around setting fire to cars because they live in the same fluffy environment as everyone else. They're just much less likely to be caught or identified. rant over.
Is the "dog **** factor" like the "X-Factor" for turds? Oh no, that IS the X-Factor.
