Did you watch the programme about Harold Wilson last night and Mountbatten's plot to lead a military coup?

    Thoughts?

I think a military coup would have been good for the country.

    Get the ruling classes ruling!

    Ey up,

No I didn't. I turned over to watch it and then realised it was one of those drama-documentaries and to be honest Id rather watch a good documentary than a load of actors mincing around and pretending what might have happened.

So Mountbatten wanted a military coup eh?! LOL

Back to the days of feudalist rule, he'd have given us all a cow and a bit of land and we'd have been right!

Supposedly, the conversations were based on recordings that the BBC Journo's did at the time.

He actually arranged a coup TWICE, with blessing from the "good old QM"

Still....did n't do him any good...

I just did a Google and had a quick read about it. Interesting stuff indeed. I wonder how far the army would have gone as I suspect there would have been a good deal who felt more duty to the monarchy than the government.

Just goes to show what goes on behind the scenes when there is power to be used and wielded.
