my old chiropractor used to use it a bit on my shoulder, seemed to work, but it was only ever a couple of needles at a time.
yes, the main pain has gone, although along with the acupuncture i had massage, ultra sound and some form of electrical treatment to help break down the scar tissue that had developed over the years.
Is the sciatica disc-related? If yes, chances are it'll take a while to heal whatever "cure" is tried.
Sciatica is no fun and it's very tempting to throw money at it to try to make the pain disappear. If it's a herniated disc and the pain extends the length of the leg, it can be weeks before any improvement. But most people do recover with just conservative treatment - i.e. rest and pain meds/anti-inflammatories when needed. Takes a while for the body to reabsorb the escaped disc material. There's no direct blood supply to discs - hence the slow healing. I had a few months of sciatic pain about three years ago. Now back playing football and doing lots of running. Everyone is different of course, but I read tons of info at the time, and the vast majority of people make an excellent recovery.
shes been like this for almost a year now the pain is from her buttock down her thigh shees in pain all the time now and pain killers from docter not mutch help anylonger.Going to docters tomorrow to see if she can try acupuncture thanks for your help.
She has my sympathy. Has she had an MRI to confirm that it's a disc problem? Anti-inflammatories worked best for me for what it's worth. Good luck with the acupuncture.
I'll never forget seeing............... a documentary on this Chinese guy who had OPEN HEART SURGERY with just acupuncture for pain relief-he was awake all the while-unbelievable
i had it a couple of years ago for almost identical symptoms to the ones you've described. got some relief but usually only lasted about 24hrs after the session. suffered with it for nearly three years then one day it just went as quickly as it arrived. best relief from all the treatment i had was from an osteopath in wakefield.
