Another clean sheet! a great penalty save! Another International call up! Club Captain! And we have best defence in League 1... I say well done sir! All the haters have gone very quiet. Always given his all for the Reds, consistent, and a good lad too. Well done skipper!
I believe i am one of these so called haters as i have been one of his biggest critics. However, I have stated several times how he looks to be getting back to his best this season. Well done Adam. Dont understand this told you so/point scoring attitude amongst some on here.
It's great to see him getting back to his best after a pretty turbulent year in which he lost form and confidence. I have no issue with criticism of a player provided its fair and balanced but some fans, including some on here (not aiming this at you Mateo) were vitriolic towards him - one of two even argued that he was solely responsible for our relegation. I hope they are enjoying their huge slice of humble pie.
I thought he played awful last season, thats not being a "hater" for me that's just giving a view on what I see. Was excellent the year we went up and very good the first year back in the championship. Obviously not having as much protection in front was harmful to him as well. From then with his confidence presumably in bits he just got worse. Now people say they need encouragement and to a large extent i agree with that. However if a professional footballer can't stand up to criticism when they play poorly then I'm afraid they won't go far. I had hoped that with is going down we wpuld be better. So far we have been and that includes Davies, lots of factors in that but he is looking very good once again. Good on him too, he has come through one hell of a tough season and is playing a huge part in our early season form. I am pleased for him and myself as a fan.
Exactly for two years hes had ups and downs. Still not a total fan end of story but upto now he's doing as expected.
Regular of threads criticising the lad this season, suggesting he is not good enough. Easy to see how form dipped last season when team not playing well, leaving moral and low throughout the squad, managerial changes, suffered with injury niggles all season, lack of adequate competition for your place in the side, and worst being dropped for Townsend.
And now there are regular threads praising him, which i and others who doubted him have contributed to. Davies was appalling last season and rightly deserved criticism. He played well yesterday and now is getting deserved praise. It's that simple. There was never any hidden agenda in my eyes.
He’s still fairly young for a keeper He’s got a few weaknesses (just like Luke Steele did) But he’s got a load of strengths too and I am more than happy to have him in the team We’d need to spend over a million to replace him I reckon. He’s a top league one keeper and is capable in the championship. Oxford want over a million for Eastwood and he looked no better than Davies - he was an outstanding shot stopper but had weaknesses. That’s the level we are at. He did have a ropey season last season but his confidence was, understandably, knocked. He will keep getting better, like most keepers do.
There was a lot of criticism of Davies last season some justified some not so much. What was not taken into account was our abysmal management and poor planning. He was made to play through a loss of form and crisis of criticism because we had no one capable of replacing him. A bad situation got worse. It was clear given his previous form that Davies is a more than competent keeper going through a bad spell albeit with the weaknesses that CT notes above. Some people ignored the background and just barracked and criticised him constantly. It was obvious that this would bite them in the arse so they shouldn’t be overly surprised when people point it out to them.
Don't think anyone wanted Davies to fail so imagine all the "haters" are happy he has found form again. I certainly am, I even had my doubts following a nervy Oxford game but these last few games I'm pleased to say he's looking back to his best. I also stand by the fact that he needed replacing last season and it seems that the club recognised this as well. No matter who was to blame for his poor form, unfortunately Davies cost up a few points last season. And it was quite baffling to see some on here not acknowledge this. Glad that he's now put that behind him.
Haha. He got less criticism than Lindsay, Potts, Moncur, Mowatt etc but as soon as he has a good game you're on here saying people were wrong to criticise him when he had a bad game. We ALL want the team to play well but this is a football forum to discuss the pros and cons of each player and Davies has had his fair share of poor games so will naturally be debated.
