Been reminiscing about the JPT which was 6 years this Sunday. Looked at Adam Hammill goals on YouTube and it brought home how far we've fallen since those heady days. How the hell did we get a player of his calibre. Will we see his like again at oakwell? I very much doubt it. I miss the driving forward of players like Hammill and in the past, Glavin and Howard. Players like that, get the crowd motivated unlike the 10 sideways passes before losing the ball crap we see today. Really enjoyed watching this video which showcases a true Barnsley FC legend.

Sometimes forget just how good he was on his day. That video hammers home the fact.
Immense talent, wish we had him in his prime right now.....

I was right behind his goal in the playoff final and knew from the moment he hit that it was bound for that top corner. I nearly wet myself.

I had an excuse, I had a stent in my urinary tract at the time due to kidney stones.

Absolute legend. Big game player too. So good on his day.

As for players of his quality, I suppose Quina is a match for him! But sadly won't be around as long.

Have to agree. Likely to be swapping leagues with us in May, great supporting ownership, manager who loves the club and a nice new modern stadium right on the edge of town.
    Must be great......

Just watched the video. Great player. I'd almost forgotten that football could be look like that.

We were going nowhere (well, possibly League Two!) until he arrived in the 2015-16. His talent and passion transformed how the whole team played. And what a big game player, his two Wembley goals that season have to be up there with my favourite ever moments in football. On the flip side I remember being in the away end at Pride Park after we'd just been relegated with Morais at the helm. All the other players had sloped off to the changing rooms but not Adam. There he was applauding the fans, stood on the pitch on his own, visibly upset as we sang his name. There are not many Barnsley players I personally would afford legendary status to, but he's one of them.

Apart from support. Always been behind us on that level although that is likely to change next season.

Could do a job for is now at centre midfield. He was immense in that position in our 2.0 victory v Brentford in our relegation season

For whatever reason unfortunately Adam was spent at this level by 2018. He’s still only 34 now so it was a surprise and quite an alarming drop in performance.

I think it was match made in football heaven when he returned on a months trial , he was desperate having burnt his bridges at Huddersfield and no one would take him on , we were desperate with relegation to 3rd division looking a distinct possibility . We certainly saw the best of him

I suppose you could say it’s an opinion but the facts are 1 goal in 47 appearances in 2017/8 for an offensive player and bar a brief stint at St Mirren (where he did ok) he never played at this level again, if you can call St Mirren the same level as the Championship.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy. He was brilliant for us and it just seemed to be a good fit.

I’m all for having him back at the club in the staff.
But to say he could still do a job on the pitch in the championship is stretching it a bit.

He’s obviously had his demons to battle and I hope he’s managing to get his life back on track.
Oakwell is definitely a poorer place without him in some capacity.

How far we've fallen? We are in a higher league now than then and have a number of players at least as good as Hammill if not better.

I was talking in football terms. That team was on the up and proved itself in the Championship till the fire sale. Hourihaine, Winnall, Fletcher, Hammill, Brownhill etc would have wiped the floor with this lot . Can't think of one current player who you could put up a video highlights package like that one.
