    I'm sure he's a decent footballer,but

If I'm right, his role is to make us more solid, less likely to concede goals. Well we conceded three first half, one where a player ran straight through the middle.
The same thing on Saturday ... Addison was jus bypassed.
I watched Addison closely tonight. He just does not make himself available for the short pass ... He wants it to go past him.... There were numerous occasions where he actually made himself less available so the pass was made to someone else.
So that means that the other players have a harder job. They have to work harder for space. I feel sorry for Butterfield because he has to offer himself in more difficult positions.

By having the 4-1-4-1 formation we compromise width, and bodies in the box. Neither full back got far enough forward, and we are trying to thread passes through the eye of a needle.
At 4-4-2 we look more threatening ... Slightly, but why take Doyle off? he knows how to play alongside Butterfield. Perkins runs around, but to what effect?

Having watched three efforts at the formation, I'm not impressed. Time to get back to basics.
We need width and the ball in the box. More shots on target... Did we even have one tonight.

Very worrying. The only consolation for me us that I do think both Southampton and middlesborough are decent sides.

I have never inmy life seen such a slow unathletic professional footballer in my life, and that includes Darren Moore and Jan Molby (when we had him).

whats wrong with luvre, he played ok in that position in pre season, why not give him a go, at least he may look to make a killer pass and not need 30 seconds to to move 1 yard
