    Yesterday - computer fine.

Today - when I turned it on it asked if I wanted to install an update of it, so I thought why not - now youtube videos won't play, flashplayer won't open stick cricket or anything, says I've an old version installed or something - yet on both stick cricket and youtube it takes you to the Adobe download page and I've tried downloading it - says it has successfully done so, yet it still doesn't work.

And I have restarted in between...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    2 options

go to add remove programs - completely remove the Adobe flash player - reboot your PC and then reinstall from scratch

    -or

go to a previous restore point from a couple of days ago -

Hmmm the delete, re-boot and re-install hasn't worked...

Though not 100% sure I totally deleted it as I can't find the 'add/remove' appliation, only 'add hardware' so I just found it and deleted it.

    Grrrrrrrrrrr :((

Its not a hardware related issue

Are you on Vista or XP

On XP (or earlier SW) its Start > Control panel > Add or Remove programs

I have both Adobe Flash Player Plugin
    and
    Adobe Flash Player ActiveX installed

    - I would remove both if I was you and try a reinstallation from

    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer

I've had this problem (or very similar)

In fact flashplayer behaves very oddly on my (Vista) system. It wouldn't automatically download so I had to do it manually. Firefox couldn't see the flashplayer plugin but IE could.

Uninstalled plug-ins but couldn't find Active X installed anywhere... re-booted and downloaded again but still not working.
