RE: Just out of interest what did the promoted 3 do

Basically they amassed enough points by winning or drawing against other teams in the league independent of their position within that league either at the time or by the end of the season in order to be in one of the top 2 automatic promotion positions or one of the 4 top 6 positions that qualified them to enter a knock out competition for the winning team to gain promotion.
