Can anyone help? I've got a Samsung 160gb hard drive and I have a USB cable and connection kit, when I connect it up to the drive and plug it in, it detects the drive but does not show it in My Computer. When I go to add Hardware it doesn't do anything. Is this because the drive is not partitioned? If so how would I partition it using USB? Any advice appreciated please.

    Thanks.

It will need formatting you may have to get the software from Samsung site as the easy option

    http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/IDE1.htm#diskmanagement ......or the hard way......

If its a brand new one, I'd get it slapped into the pc as a slave drive and format partition it using fdisk or a third party tool like Partion Magic. Once done, take it out and slap it back in the external enclosure. If its a XP OS it won't need any programs installing.
