i keep getting calls asking to speak to a Mr Dixon, now i tell them everytime that there is not or never has been in 10 years a mr dixon at this address can they please remove this number from their dialling list; a lot of them have, however a certain couple of them keep persisting and saying just put mr dixon on, these people have should we say heavily accented ( they sound sub continent ish)english. what would be the legal situation if i let rip with a tirade of racist abuse so if they dont want to hear it, dont fecking phone me
doesnt say its on my landline and i just got it 'cos it came with the tinterweb package and certain people who cant phone mobiles use it so i got to answer it ( their numbers would also come up blank)
Pretend you are Mr Dixon. See what they are actually phoning him up for, they might just need to hear **** off from Mr Dixon and not someone else.
Chances are they probably aren't after this 'Mr Dixon' at all. It's just an excuse to get you on the phone (their primary goal is to actually get you on the phone). That way, when they know what time you are in and most likely to answer the phone (this may go on for weeks and even months), they will sell the information to other companies who will call you offering to sell you things that you really don't need or want.
So it's a new number you've got? Pound to a penny Mr Dixon owes money and prior to his contract terminating with the phone company it would have been his residential number which has subsequently been recycled. Next time they call ask them politely to confirm who they work for. They have to provide this by law. Once this has been established ask to be put onto the organ grinder and demand that YOUR number is removed. Again they have to follow this through as if they don't it embellishes their standing with the information commissioners office to store correct information. If you establish who they are let me know and I'll draft you a letter to send off...
get intouch with your supplier i had same thing with sky the monitor it and if it persists i think they put a block on them when theyve sorted there number out.
Go back to provider and ask for a new number. If it was new to you, then a change shouldn't be too much inconvenience.
